I would think that you'd rather have him chewing nicorette gum than to start smoking again. If he quits the gum he may start smoking again, it is possible since the urge to smoke never really totally goes away. It is that strong of a habit!! Nicotine in placed into cigarettes when they are made and it is also grown with nicotine in the plants, so it is twice as stronger as it use to be like 40 years ago. This is why people have such a difficult time being able to quit smoking.

A friend of mine has chewed it for years. He said his doctor told him that it is better for him to be chewing the gum than smoking. He doesn't bother my friend to quit the gum, he said it is far better for him to chew the gum than to smoke.

Although he is still getting the nicotine he is not getting all the other poisons that go along with smoking. Yes it would be better to not be doing any of the two, but the gum is the lesser of the two evils if you will.

The Nicorette Gum does have nicotine in it. I don't think this stuff really works. A long time ago I tried it and the taste of the stuff was so horrible that I had to smoke to get the taste out of my mouth. If you are not pregnant, you might want to try Smoke Away. You can buy it just about everywhere and the have a neat online support group too. You can join the support group even if you don't quit with there product. I smoked for ten years and quit with Smoke Away. I haven't had a smoke in 2.5 years. Good luck to you in your quit.

THE MAIN REASON TO CHEW NICORETTE IS TO QUIT SMOKING, WITH THE GRADUAL DECREASE IN GUM USE ALTOGETHER.
AFTER 10+ YEARS YOUR FRIEND IS STILL ADDICTED TO NICOTENE AND HAS TO ASK HIMSELF/HERSELF IF QUITTING THE ADDICTION IS SOMETHING THEY WANT TO DO.
