Transient Insomnia lasts from one night to a few weeks but it seems longer. Most people occasionally suffer from transient insomnia due to such causes as jet lag or short-term anxiety. If this form of insomnia continues to occur from time to time, the insomnia is classified as intermittent.
Acute Insomnia is the inability to consistently sleep well for a period of between three weeks to six months.
Chronic Insomnia is regarded as the most serious; persists almost nightly for at least a month.

I’ve been living with someone who has chronic sleep apnea and never gets enough rest. There have been no sort term effects, other then being tired most of the time and being in a bad mood sometimes. However, long-term effects to this disorder can be very serious and a danger if not treated. People with sleep apnea are at higher risk for car crashes, work-related accidents and other medical problems. If you have it, it is important to get treatment.

Sleep deprivation can have adverse effects on a person's health.
Sleep is believed to be essential to restore immune functions and deprevation has shown to adversely affect these functions.
Some studies have shown that sleep deprivation early in life can cause behavioral problems and even early neuron cell death.
Some theories even believe that sleep is an essential factor in preserving and processing memories.
While deprivation itself has now shown to cause actual organ damage, prolonged deprivation can affect energy levels and even cause death from severe exhaustion.

No certain disease, sleep weakens your ammune system makin you exposed to anything, but if you dont sleep for a long time you'll sart making a chemical called "Adrenalin"to keep your heart pumping, this isnt good for your heart and your heart could stop beating, but most likely you'll pass out before that happens.
