I have a 84 Dodge D-150 with a slant six and a A833 OD standard transmission. I am getting ready to put a 360 in it. Will the bellhousing currently on my transmission work with the 360, or I do I need to find a bellhousing specific to small block v8's? Is the bellhousing bolt pattern the same for slant sixes and small-block v8? I have heard conflicting info. I know the made 727 auto trannies for the slant, but i wasn't sure if its different from the v8 727. Thanks for your input!!!

Different bolt pattern for slant six and V8. The bell housing is part of the transmission, so get the one with the engine you are changing to. All you have to do is look at the driver's side of your slant six. See that starter bolted way up high on that side? The V8 starters mount low and are hard to see.
