You can not compare the two because Vietnam war was an actual war where USA was fighting a real trained army and therefore the death toll for soldiers was much higher. Iraq was an invasion and an attack. There was no real army to fight with therefore far less soldiers have died and the death toll on civilians is very high because they are no match for trained soldiers with the latest high tech weapons.

55,464 - 655,000 - Iraq War (2003-Present) As of 2007, this conflict is still ongoing; the death toll is extremely disputed; the number of 655,000 deaths only includes deaths up to July 2006; it is the most scientific estimate published in the second of two surveys backed by Johns Hopkins University et alia; the surveys were very publicly disputed following publication in The Lancet; many parties contend that the actual death toll is significantly lower; as of February 4th 2007, a tally of minimum civilian deaths that were reported in English-language media stands at 55,464; the Iraqi health ministry has said that at least 150,000 civilians and about 60,000 insurgents and Iraqi soldiers –ie. soldiers who fought during the initial phase of the war when Saddam was still in power– had died by the end of 2006.

Many more died in Viet Nam than have died in Iraq, for at least three reasons:
Viet Nam went on for far longer than Iraq has gone on.
Battlefield medical care has improved greatly since the 1960's and 70's.
It's easier for the enemy to hide in a jungle than in a desert.
We stayed in Viet Nam until over 58,000 Americans died, and countless Vietnamese. Our current President would repeat that mistake. We must not let him do so.
Both were unjust and illegal wars, based on false accusations, sustained by fear mongering, used by Presidents to enhance their own power and ensure their reelection, and very profitable for the industrial war machine that President Eisenhower warned us of. Viet Nam led to the downfall of one President (Johnson), and Iraq is leading to the downfall of the current administration.

Why don't you count the death toll of Vietnamese and Iraqi civilians as well? Are their lives worth less?
