I've read things like: "we are not deserving of God's love"

Let's say there is a God, this God created you as you are, imperfect on purpose. You are going to do negative things, according to a certain religion, the only perfect person was the Son of God. If you follow this religion (and I think you do) then you should be accepting of your shortcomings as human beings, and instead of focusing on what you're doing wrong, instead think of ways to not do them, or to better yourself and the people around you.

If there is a God, and "He" is "all-loving" then why would you feel like you're not "worthy of God"

Consequently, if I was a gay, meth addicted prostitute, two things would be true.

1) I have brought a lot of negativity on my life

and

2) I would be in shock of any "all-loving" God that didn't see me worthy of this "glory"

Now I don't believe in said religion, but for those that do stop focusing on the negative aspects in your life, forgive yourself.

That's mostly just Christians. And Muslims.

Not so much with Jews (who are, afterall, God's chosen people), Hindus, or Buddhists.

You are right; people should be focusing on how to not sin and be better people. Unfortunately, no matter how hard we try, we're going to screw up every now and then. Christians DO accept that they are imperfect, and they're okay with it, but only because Jesus gave us the gift of forgiveness! That is why we say that we are "not worthy" of God; He could easily wipe us all off the face of the earth in a millisecond if He wanted to, but instead He chose to be compassionate and offer a way to be with Him forever. You are also right about us needing to forgive ourselves; once we have asked God's forgiveness, there is no point in dwelling on our past mistakes; we should learn from the mistakes and get on with our lives! Good question!

It's truth being spoken. We recognize that there is a nature in us that separates us from God. That's why Christians seem to be in a minor key at times. It's actually good for us. God promised to take away that nature. We desire that release. And the closeness that will follow.

When you have a relationship with someone especially someone like Christ and you fall short or mess up you feel bad- although you know he will forgive you as long as you confess and turn from whatever sin or stronghold has you feeling guilty. You want to please God, you want to walk in obedience and integrity when it comes to Christ and I am always reminded of the price Jesus paid for me on calvary..so when I do sin It's like crucifying him all over again-youve seen the movie "The Passion" just imagine someone loving you enough to go through that for your soul salvation-I can't think of anyone who would do that other than Christ. So just think about it-or-Selah.

The bible says that God made man upright but they have sought out many inventions, in other words, has found many ways to corrupt himself. He wasn't made imperfect on purpose. Maybe that'll help you in your search for the truth, if you are searching for it, to know that even though we weren't made corrupt and we fell, God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16

No, we know that God loves us. We are humble to admit that we fall short and we are not really worthy of His love, but that is because we accept God's standards of what is good and what is bad. God loves us, we know that. And we are thankful for His mercy.

God didn't make us imperfect. He gave us free-will, and we chose poorly.
