Hi
Im wanting to get a tattoo just below my stomach, in the pelvis area!
If i ever have children, will the stretch marks ruin my tattoo? Do stretch marks go down their?
Thanks

when you get pregnant everything that stretches out will run the risk of not returning to it's natural shape and place. if you have a tattoo there it is very likely that it will stretch out and distort your tattoo. some people do have great genetics and are fine but most have alteast a little distortion and some have horrible looking tattoos post pregnancy. for that reason i'll never get a tattoo there.

there is a definate possibility that stretch marks could distort a tattoo in the pelvis area, but how likely would depend on the exact location, shape, and orientation of the tattoo, and how much weigh was gained in creating the stretch marks. If you are young when you have children, and keep a strict diet, excersise, and most importantly take very good care of your skin, you would minimize the chance of getting any major stretch marks, and because when young the skin is more elastic could return to it's previous size with little risk of damage to the tattoo, especially if it is done so that the stretching generally deforms it in a linear direction.
Of course if it is sitting low on your belly, chances are high it will deform, and having more than one kid, or waiting until you are in your 30's would make it almost certain. If you have not gotten the tattoo, talk to a good artist, about best placement and such to limit the chance of that happening.

Its not very likely to get stretch marks on your pelvis area but it could happen. My sister has a tattoo around there and she has had two children the skin in around that area doesnt really stretch out, Its really just the lower tummy but if your really worried about it when/if you get pregnate make sure when your just about 4 months pregnate to start applying cocoa butter all over your tummy and sides it will help prevent it but if the women in your family got stretch marks while they were pregnate then its bound to happen any ways. Good luck

Well, some people are luckier than others. I never got any. I'm 47 years old. I have a cousin, however, that has super bad stretch marks---looks like a Tiger Clawed her stomach. I feel sorry for her. If you are young, and your mother is not heavy (then again her mother is thin)......THINK REAL HARD.....
How bad do you want it??? On wedding nite??? In labor room????
I'd say "no"....
But then again I don't really like tattoos on women. I know BOO< HISSSSSSSSS...oh well, that's just me.

There's no guarantee that you'll get stretch marks, but your skin will DEFINITELY stretch and it probably won't return to the same flat shape that it is now. There's a high probability you'll end up with a misshapen (stretched) tattoo.

You can get a stretch mark anywhere on your body during pregnancy. It may or may not affect a tattoo. I have friends whose tattoos were wrecked by pregnancy, not by stretch marks by by the skin stretching normally then tightening back up. I have other mom friends whose tattoos were not changed.

You may not get stretch marks but your skin will stretch and the tattoo has no choice but to stretch with it.
