Well, my bfs family is christian and invited me to easter service. From what i've heard it's very long and drawn out but i'll go out of respect for his family. Those who have been there, is it like a sermon? please tell me there is no fire and brimestone, redemtion yada, yada. As long as they are just talking about christ rising from the tomb i won't really mind.

It depends on what denomination they go to. If it is a Fundamentalist church, be prepared for an altar call. The minister will know that new people are there and will take this occasion to try to save you.

If it is a Roman Catholic or Anglican, or Lutheran church it will be Eucharist. They read some of the bible and a short sermon and then have the mass.

Both types will have a lot of music. Informal for some, more formal for others.

The coolest service is the one on Saturday night. The Great Vigil of Easter. Lot of darkness, fire, candles. It is great. Hope it is this that you are going to.

Oh... Baptist. Well you might get a little fire and brimstone, but not much. Might be a sunrise service so be prepared to get up at 3:00am. I hate Sunrise services myself. I go on Saturday night instead. They might have grape juice and wonder bread. Not sure if they do that on Easter on not. You will surely get an altar call. If you are not a Christian and they don't know that, just act like you are. Otherwise... his family might have a secret agenda. Just be polite and play it by ear.

Here here. Look at the origins of the celebration of Easter.

Hmmmmm

Bunny Rabbits

Colored Eggs

Sunrise Rituals

The celestial date (as apposed to a calendar date). Oh, if you don't know it is ALWAYS the first sunday after the first full moon after the spring equinox.

Honey it doesn't get much more PAGAN than that, does it? Now, you will see a whole bunch of well meaning yet sadly misinformed xtain attempting to explain away Easter items as having xtain origins. It is best to smile and know the truth.

Have a wonderful day, peace upon you!

Oh, check out some to the other so-called xtain holidays ...... surprise, surprise, surprise, a little digging can go a long way.

If it's a true evangelical service ,it's fine....but...I get up for work everyday at 3:30 am and I'm not getting up for a sunrise service especially if it's outside.
If the pastor talks about resurrection proofs such as how all of the Apostles died preaching it and not one recanted,as well as many disciples,it can be quite interesting.I'll find one on TV later.

Depends on the church. SOme are the resurrection, some are fire and brimstone, but fire and brimstone is coming very rare on any sunday. Go for the Brunch

wow, you go girl.

Just hang in for the yada yada yada while a Savior that could be yours hangs on the Cross for your Sins.

Better if you fall on your knees and recognize the Christ while you are sitting there being bored.

It would be disrespectful to your religion to attend if it were
different from christianity
