My blood test recently revealed that my blood cholestrol has gone to 208. By the way, I am almost 10 lbs overweight than a healthy level. Am I in risk of having cholestrol problem? What foods should I have or avoid? Please tell me your professional advice and tips! I do appreciate that.

I've never heard of a cholesterol reading of 208 usually a healthy level is 3.5 - 5.5 so maybe he should of explained it to you better, anyway, the no nos are - cream, icecream, butter, margarine, cheese, any fast foods like pizza or kfc or mcdonalds or hungry jacks. The goodies, are Proactiv marg. or logical (whichever suits your taste, will actually reduce your levels), onions, garlic, capsicum, tomatoes, lettuce, celery, eggs, really any vege or fruit, but steam or nuke them instead of mashed spuds etc, use olive oil or canola oil, avoid dressings on salad if possible, seafood is a tricky one, they are full of omega 3 oils which are healthy for your heart but some are high in cholesterol, like prawns for example, steamed fish with a bit of lemon pepper and parsley etc. is cool but mainly do the 2 n 5 like the adds say, 2 pieces of fruit and 5 veges, its not as hard as you think, like spaghetti bog., add 2 or 3 colours of capsicum, onion, garlic, tomatoes, and finely chopped celery, theres your 5 veges and just add 2 pcs of fruit, too easy, grab a book on low cholesterol cooking that will help, don't feel over whelmed its easier than you think and 10 pounds overweight is nothing - also beware - alcohol spikes your cholesterol levels, so if you are having another blood test, abstain and you might be surprised at the results, Goodluck!!!

A good rule of thumb is that if it comes from an animal it's going to have bad cholesterol but if it comes from a plant it's going to have good cholesterol.

For example, butter, milk, cheese and meat, all contain bad cholesterol. Avocado and olive oil on the other hand, comes from animals and whilst they are still high in fat, don't contain bad cholesterol.

Avoid fatty foods and increase your fibre intake. Exercise helps too.
