So what's "he" supposed to do, drop his pants and show you he has no sex organs? How's he supposed to "prove" anything to YOUR satisfaction, and why would he bother? Besides, if a life form, totally alien to earth, does exist in the conditions of other planets, doesn't mean it's capable of coming here, finding your house, and knocking on your door, and not keel over dead from all our earthly viruses somwhere along the way. That's almost like saying you'll believe in UFO's when one crashes through your roof, or you'll believe in computer viruses when one jumps on your lap and says "hello!"

I have no problem with you disbelieving that aliens might exist.
No self-respecting scientist would state that there is definitely intelligent life elsewhere in the cosmos. And, they would definitely not write a book claiming that they had discovered proof of said alien's existence, when in fact they had not.
Atheists don't just deny the existence of God because he hasn't knocked on our doors. Most of us have devoted a lot of time to studying whether or not the stories contained in the Bible are believable. Only after comparing those stories with reality did we make our decision.

Basically right except for the impossibility statement. Some might have a quibble over that part.
Other than that yes, If there was evidence then good. The Odds however are that somewhere out there another intelligent life form exists. It is also extremely unlikely that we would ever meet it.

Not entirely... In the recently discovered caves on Mars, they just might find some kind of life forms...
Somehow, I think some alien bacteria might have a tough time reaching your doorbell. Either way, its still a life form. God, on the other hand, is alleged to be omnipotent and omnipresent - so he should be able to knock on my door. But he continuously fails to do so.

I see where you are trying to go with this analogy, but it is a false analogy.
My main justification for calling myself an atheist is that I am quite certain the Bible is myth, and indeed every god story told by every culture is myth.
I suppose there is a possibility for some kind of supernatural creator. I'm not particularly critical of Deists, as their beliefs are consistent with the available evidence, namely that there are no supernatural forces that interfere with the laws of physics.

well it does seem like an awfully big universe to be totally uninhabited except for the earth, doesnt it?
i just find the concept of a big man in the sky to be a bit wacky.
it could be that there is a god like that, but it just seems unlikely in the same way aliens seem very likely

It ignores the statistical probability that there is in fact life elsewhere, but it seems perfectly reasonable to me.
