And while the US Coast Guard is not a branch of the US military or the Dept of Defense they still should be include in the same range I place the service branches. Oh, the USCG is a part of the US Dept of Commerce.

My point is that every branch of the service is demanding and has it's own level of difficulty and danger. I was in the army. My father, grandfather & nephew were in the navy. My uncle was in the air force. And my best friend and my son's godfather was a marine. We all traded war stories and gained some understanding of what the other services demanded.

Well, depends on the tree. Normally green branches are harder to break than old dead ones...but then again, it depends on the thickness of the branch, and the tool you are using.

Listen...you cannot compare one branch to another. Each service branch has physically demanding and mentally demanding jobs.

People might say the Marines are hardest. Sure, maybe they are, in some ways. What about the Navy SEALS? What about the Navy Nuclear Power Program? (I was a former nuke on a submarine). The nuke program takes a 4 year degree in Nuclear Engineering and crams it into 6 months. That was tough...mentally.

based on basic training
Air force: 6 weeks
Navy: 8 weeks
Army 9 weeks
Marine: 13 weeks

English groups?
Royal Marines: 40 weeks
French foreign legion: 3 months +
I think it's what happens afterward tho.. Army groups can go to ranger/etc..
Marines go to Recon etc
Air force can go to Spec Ops
Navy can go into Seals
So if you are asking for the Toughest... It's just not there. they become tough in their specialized branches for the job they need to do.
