It can be difficult, but the best way to stave off unwanted advances is to be firmly kind, but most importantly, direct. Take him somewhere neutral and--keeping it straight to the point--inform him that you sense his feelings towards you may be more than platonic but you aren't interested in pursuing that kind of avenue with him. It may hurt him some that he won't get what he originally wanted, but I'm sure he will be appreciative of your honesty in the end.

Well age and maturity will help you here. First --this is like any other decision in your life--the choice is all yours. And if you do not want a relationship or a big time date, then tell him no and that is it--he won't explode or fly away--NO IS NO--you better stand up and tell hot pants that you are friends and that is it !! No explanations or words needed or accepted. Hurt? That is a stupid little boy pouting--so definitely do not date him. Didn't he ever hear the word NO before?? That is too bad. Get a grip and tell him.

You just say no. I had a friend like that and one day he tried to kiss me - I said "I am sorry if I've given you the wrong impression, but I am not interested in that kind of relationship with you". Fortunately that friend understood - some others don't. You might want to meet him in a public place for such a conversation.
Peace!

You can't so don't even try. In fact trying to not hurt him will only succeed in doing just that. Men prefer women be direct and unambitious when saying what you want too.
Don't beat around the bush, don't hint, make sure he fully understands.

Don't know if this will help you, but, my grandson and his friend talked about dating, cause they got along so good, but decided not to "date" date, cause if it didn't work out, they wouldn't be friends anymore. They valued their friendship too much to take a chance. By the way, they are still friends, and my daughter just loves her. I think she [my daughter] secretly wishes they would be more than friends, someday.

Being honest is a nice thing.
Yeah! others right, how better you tell him that you don't like him it's still hurts for him.
Try to say it frankly (seriously) while it is early, and He must to understand it.
And If He persisted, try to call the cops.... No! I'm just joking! haha!

It is fair to tell him you enjoy your company but be clear that you only want to be friends with him. It is unfair if you will just lead him on and devastate him in the end and lose a good friend in the process.

theres no certain way to do that of course since its hurting feelings. Tell him that u care for him and is a good person and such but u just dont have "those type" of feelings back for him. He should understand.

You may be giving him mixed signals by hanging out with him.
If you are not romantically interested, and you don't want to hurt his feelings, then back away... stop hanging out with him, hopefully he will back off on his own.
