First, I keep my hair in extremely healthy condition. Every hairdresser I've been to has commented on how healthy my hair is. It starts with eating right and drinking lots of water.

I shampoo and condition every other day with moisturizing products. Once or twice a week I use a deep conditioning mask for at least fifteen minutes.

When I get out of the shower I wrap my hair in a special hair towel (no rubbing it dry as that causes breakage and frizz). After just a few minutes I unwrap it and distribute a straightening serum from the roots to the ends, then comb through with a wide tooth comb.

I'm a pretty haphazard blow-dryer but really you should always point the dryer from the roots to the ends to keep your hair smooth. Once it's dry I can straighten it whenever I want. I use a CHI iron but I prefer GHDs. I pin up the top layers of hair and do the bottom first, then I let the top layers down and straighten them.

When I'm done straightening I spritz a shine spray onto my fingers and run it over my hair (just from the ears down, not near the roots).

Different for everyone but heres what works for me...Fyi my hair is: Pretty dry, has weird waves, VERY friizy, falls just below my shoudlers

1) Because I have extremely dry hair, I only wet the top of my head and wash my scalp (the shampoo runs down the rest of my hair when I rinse it out, thats enough to keep my hair clean). I use Pert 2 in1 shampoo/
2) Then I apply Sunsilk Stragithen Up Creme into it right after I get out of the shower.
3) I let it dry for about 10 minutes (gives me time to brush my teeth)
4) Then I spray VO5 protective spray into my hair all over.
5) After that, I straighten my hair on a low setting with a flat iron.
6) Finally, I apply Frizzbuster on top of my hair!
Fyi-This takes about an hour to do...But works well for me!
Good luck! Talk to your stylist/ salon person for tips specific to YOUR hair type.

You have to make sure that the build up of soap residue from other shampoos is gone. Every few shampoos use something that removes residue, such as Neutrogena Shampoo. They have a product that removes all build up from soap and conditioners. This goes a long way to increase the shine without costing a lot of money.

Also, there are specific conditioners (Pantene has one) that are made to reflect light off the hair.

Men and women do this with their hair.

it's mostly genes, but girls with kind of wavy hair can get shiny straight hair too.

my hair is a little bit wavy, and i use a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner, then a little bit of leave-in conditioner on the ends. i blow dry it, and then straighten it.

try Super Skinny shampoo & conditioner, let it dry (I don't notice the difference between blow drying & air drying) then before you straighten it with an iron (CHI is the best - hands down) use some spray wax sparingly.
