Congratulations on a fine decision. I won't mention the army or marines...oops, sorry. But just in case you weren't aware....

During my 18 months in Iraq I met over 100 US Navy sailors that were on the ground in various FOBs and Camps. Granted many were SEALS but not all. So if you are under the impression that there aren't any Navy guys and gals in harms way...might want to check that again. Of course it would depend on what rating you have decided to go after in A school. Besides....the odds of actually going boots on the ground are practically nil.

Any way...good luck.

Wow, ok. I was in the Navy for six years. 92-98.

I joined because I originally dropped out of college.

You don't get paid anything...barely enough to cover the beer. Although health care and basic living expenses are taken care of.

Don't join because you are bored. Join because you feel like challenging yourself in more ways than ever before.

Military life isn't for the faint at heart.

When we are bored we call friends, eat, pick our nose, watch tv.. we dont make decisions about our lifes, and if you are not wanting to fight for our country then why are you joining.. The Military dont go door to door soliciting girl scout cookies. THEY FIGHT FOR OUR COUNTRY... you might want to think of another job.. McDonald's is hiring always, and you would not be bored there

don't worry i will get to go to those other countries. it will be with a marine unit more than likely. so i guess you want some benefits of the military without doing any work. too bad that won't happen. go back to protesting the war.
