Hi Hamie. This is a classic sign of a condition called "Thoracic Outlet Syndrome" (TOS). TOS is a group of conditions in the neck/shoulder area that can compress the artery, nerves, vein and/or lymphatics that feed into the arm and hand. Generally, swelling of the hand suggests compression of the veins and/or lymphatic vessels.

TOS is usually the long-term result of a whiplash type of injury (e.g. car accident, fall, sports injury, etc.). This condition often gets progressively worse, so you may want to get professional help with it. A good Chiropractor can help you diagnose and treat this condition.

Best wishes and good luck.

I don't think you should worry too much about that...it happens almost every time I go for a long walk and am swinging my arms around. Actually, I think it happens to quite a lot of people... The swelling should go down after you stop whatever it is you're doing and sit and relax for a few minutes.

I get that too.

Could be due to blood pooling in the fingers, since they're held down at your sides.
