Why do people use swear words???

I just don't get it!!! There is no point and really offends people(like me for instance) and if you answer this and swear you are really dumb and I hope you know you're a freakin' idiot!!!

I have a neighbour who uses the F word in every sentence she says, and Ive come to one conclusion. Dumb, dumb, dumb. People who swear obviously dont have the intellectual capacity to think of proper words to say so they compensate by using profanity to fill their sentences. Personally I dont like it either and what worries me the most is the fear of my son going out to play and listening to my neighbour speak and having him say f**k as his first word!! Most definitely inapropriate!!!

Bad habit, I guess. I didn't start using words like that until high school and all my friends swore, so I just picked it up unconsciously.
I don't swear nearly as much as I used to, though, and I don't usually swear in the course of normal conversation, but when I get angry or frustrated, sometimes one (or several) will slip out. I almost never say them in front of strangers or people I don't know very well.
Excessive public swearing offends me, too, and overuse of those words comes across as unintelligent. I find nothing wrong with the occasional swear word to get a point across, but they really lose their effectiveness when used too frequently or in inappropriate situations.

Because many people just don't have the vocabulary to express what they are truly feeling. It's so much easier to pull out a swear word or two. It's too passe to have any impact anymore though. Swearing is satisfying to the uneducated.

Swearing is like a filler, when people have nothing better to say. They use as a desciption word. Instead of saying "That is so amazingly beautiful," they say "that is so freakin' beautiful." These words don't even have meaning anymore, you can stick them anywhere.
It's filler for educated words, pure and simple.

I don't use swear words unless I'm alone and talking to myself. It's a stress relief, I guess.

I also don't like it when people call others names like 'idiot' and 'dumb'. They are offensive to some people too.

People do it too look good in front of thier friends. Its like a status thing..the more you swear the more points you score in your friend's eyes. People also do it when they are seriously angry. I kinda cut back on my swearing becuase people like to snitch on me and it "ticks" me off big time.

all the people i have ever seen that swore were not educated,very insecure and usually not spiritual, but limited in intelligence are common sense.
on occasion i will use a cuss word but that is like every year are so when i get very angry and if someone says the GD words i put them out of my home are car right then .and make then promise they want say it again before i let them back in.and i am big enough to do it.because i love God and do not like it when someone cusses a Friend of mine in front of me.

most of the time ppl do it 2 mak themselvs seem alot more powerful nd feel better about who they r.... either way i agree thers no real point of it. i do curs sometimz yet im a hypocrit so i guess u cant really beliv me!

So I'm a freakin idiot because right now I'm f****** mad at the IRS and my bank and my husbands employer and many other f****** organizations and it makes me feel better when I vent using f****** swear words.
