Too often?. Are you saying that sometimes it's O.K.?. I'd be willing to bet, that at one time or another, every Police Officer has, in some way, shape, or form, abused their power.

I say, more than too often!
The thing that I'm never agree upon is that, there's never a limit for a cop to abuse power. Once is too many! I don't by that c**p, oh, people makes mistakes!

It depends on if any officers witness and report the misconduct or if any citizens report the misconduct. Sometimes officers will abuse their power and the end result, unfortunately, is they don't get in trouble for it. Other times the officers face discipline including but not limited to unpaid suspension, demotion from a specialty or supervisory position, probation, and termination. If an officer does something unlawful, it should be reported.

Do you? Have you seen it happen? If you do, report it. If you saw it and didn't report it, then you were also a part of the problem.
Some cops do stupid things. Those things should be reported and corrected. Most cops dislike other cops that do stupid things because those actions cause people like you to post questions like this.

I don't know about in the citys but here in small towns they sure do. We have one officer that drives his patrol car around with the windows open with the song from COPS blaring. He loves to hassle kids who aren't doing anything and if you, as an adult complain about it, then your kids are targeted and suddenly no one answers your calls when you have a problem. Then his kids are the ones supplying booze for all the teen parties around here. I love living in a rural area but the cops are a joke.

I watch the show called cops on the tv set, and can't believe the way that cops treat people by beating up the accused suspect, I mean even when the guy is on the ground, they will continue to just beat the living crap out of the poor fella, and in general I think that there day will come.

Well, in order to think this, I would have to have some proof... like personal experience, others' personal experience, or repeated news stories.
I have none of those things, so I have to say, no, I do not think that cops abuse their power either too often, or even just "often".

I've seen it happen. Neighbor cop used to drive 80 miles with his sirens on to get home every day. Another cop was involved in insurance fraud, helping his relative trying to pin an accident on someone who wasn't even there. Then the pot stealers, no joke. Yes, 2 cops would steal your pot and light it up in front of you.

In every department, you will have your bullies (small percentage), but for the most part, cops will treat people the way they are treated,,,,,
