New Ford Lightning Coming Out

2017-01-19 04:19:39 · answer #2 · answered by ? 4 · 0 0

Third generation (est. 2009)
There are many rumors about the next generation Lightning. A concept vehicle was released on the new 2004 F-150 platform, with a supercharged 500 Horsepower, 500 ft·lbf 5.4 L V8 engine and independent rear suspension from the recently-released Ford Expedition/Lincoln Navigator. However, all plans for a Lightning on the 2005-present F-150 platform have been dismissed. There is speculation this is because the weight of the platform would hinder a performance vehicle. The next Lightning is rumored to be released during the 2009 Model Year.

*IF* and that is a VERY strong IF ford does re-introduce the lightning it won't be until after the next major update to the F-150 There will be NO Lightnings built using the current truck design. and it will definatley NOT be powered by any of the current Modular Motors

Hard to say. Have you seen the new Foose edition F-150. It was at the NY auto show. I believe they were talking about putting that one in production. It will be a limited edition with only a small number made. I can't remember the amount.
