The drains in the door panels may be plugged and trapping water. Look underneath the door and try and clean out the plug. If you shake the door open and close you should hear the water splashing inside. If both doors are fine then it is the condensate line on the AC is plugged. That would be on the passenger side underneath the car. Good luck.

On todays cars there is a plug at the bottom of the door.
If it gets water in the door it most of the times drains out. But if it gets pluged it wont drain.
Check the bottom of the door. If there is no drain you will have to remove the inside door panel to get at it.

Remove the door panel... I have received a few cars like the one you describe. I found:
1 beer can and loose change.
and in another a really moldy bologna? sandwich

.You said water.... look for a plug that you can remove, that you have to get on your hands and knees to find... when removed beware of what comes out.
