DVD Format Help ?

I want to burn this video onto a CD so i can watch it on a DVD player. The CD is CD-R format and my DVD player can play this CD. But first I have to convert my video file into a format that can be burned into the CD. What's the smallest video format that can be burned onto a CD that can be played on a DVD player? I'm using Nero 7.

Almost all DVD players can play VCD discs
VCD uses MPEG-1 video and audio.

So record in VCD format.
