David. Like many things the bible does not directly address this one. Like when you get cancer and die. You would rather trust the doctor to remove it than just pray over your bible it will go away. You know in reality that its not going to help you and that you better side on reason.
In other words it has nothing to do with the bible necessarily. Just as culture and biology go hand in hand. So does culture and religion. Female Gentle Mutilation is not mentioned in the Quran for example but people like to say it is and think its so. People will quote you passages that will amount to things like.....You should not have been bad to your parents or........be good. It has nothing to do with religion any more than cheering your favorite teams battle cry.
people justify anything. people will find passages to mean anything. people will tell you that your cancer has a plan in gods schema.......the real answer is that your parent thought you did something wrong and you deserved punishment for it.........that's it. They choose this direction with you because society says it is okay. that is why they picked Christianity as a religion it is what every one else around them was doing .....hence you are there asking the question. Think for a second about how crazy it is. if your parents had been plopt in Egypt when they were growing up they might have been muslim. You would probably still be grounded for the same behaviour..... culture is a b@&$
Besides if we did what the old test.....said we would probably stone you to death.
Jessus had much easier punishments......yet he has thousands of people praying and make money in his name......it is still amazing that satan employs very few yet still - in the eyes of christains - is gaining so much ground everyday. its crap

Science has not 'proved' ID as the central concept of ID, a sentient deity(ies), has yet to be 'proven.' Science and religion are not incompatible and most Atheists and theists know this. It's the fanatical dogmatic types that insist this. They are, fortunately, a minority. "If one uses the element of common sense." This is not common sense, this is what's called a blanket statement. You made a statement about all atheists and my very existence negates that whole argument. Atheists are not anti-theists by default. We simple don't subscribe to religious beliefs. "Out of the thousands of religions in the world, who said that a "deity(ies)" is the component that has to be proven? No one, it can be an "alien" at the very least for all we know." Who's to say an 'alien' cannot be a deity? They are not mutually exclusive. Whatever verbiage used to spin this pseudo-science does not negate the fact that this 'designer' would have to have supernatural ability to intervene in a way that, what we call a deity, would have.

Speaking from the viewpoint of a parent and grandparent YES.
It is good to ground when the alternative is to strangle the kid then just before death occurs release them and skin them alive so you can nail their hide to the side of the nearest barn.
Which is worse a parent who cares and grounds you (remember grounding is torture for the parent too) or a parent who doesn't care, lets you do anything you want and throws you to the dogs when you get into trouble.
When you get to be about 25 you will be amazed at how smart your parents have become since you were teenagers.
It happened to me... It happened to my children... it's happening to my grandchildren... AND It'll happen to you too if you survive long enough.

It is more unChristian not to ground if he made a mistake. Children will always think of love of the parent by condoning everything he does. In the end when he gets used to it discipline will never gets to his mind and in his adulthood it will be hard for him to grow psychologically and will have the hardest time to live harmoniously with others.

As a parent you are not suppose to spare the Rod and spoil the child.If grounding your child gets them to think about their actions then you are taking a good step foreward. You are just teaching the child to be accountable for their actions. God Bless

No! The passage, "spare the rod and spoil the child" means they should wail the tar out of you. Deem yourself lucky that they a modern parents and they care enough to make you think about what you did wrong!

What on earth does religion have to do with disciplining a child that disobeys the rules of their home? Is it Christian to disobey your parents and disrespect them? Isn't that one of the 10 commandments? Quit whining and behave yourself.
