Or was he preceded by his parents, Adam and Eve? And would his violent confrontation with Cain have even landed him in Hell, despite being the loser in the fight?

Fun question!
The Bible is such a fascinating book. Not particularly clear, but definitely fascinating.

Adam and Eve must have outlived Abel, because they conceived and bore Seth after Abel died. And those who insist there was no fight are not familiar with the Midrash (the Hebrews own interpretation of the Hebrew Scriptures). In Midrashic tradition, Cain and Abel DID fight and Abel emerged victorious, but spared Cain's life out of brotherly love. Cain then came up behind Abel and did him in. However, the Hebrews did not believe in Heaven as a place where souls go, but rather as a place where God resides. And in the infamous “not my brother’s keeper” scene, God told Cain that he heard Abel’s blood crying out to him from the earth, as opposed to saying "You're brother's standing next to me, and I sure am pissed off." So I’m gonna guess Abel didn’t make it to heaven.

In Neil Gaiman’s Sandman comic books, both Cain and Abel end up in the realm of Dreams. They are immortal there, but Cain still gets irate from time to time and kills Abel anyhow… an obsessive compulsive kinda thing. Violence aside, the pair serve as comic relief and Cain actually does love Abel in his own way. In fact he gives Abel an egg that hatches into a cute little baby gargoyle. Abel wants to name it Irving, but Cain kills him for that because everybody knows gargoyle names must begin with a G.

Abel was born from his parents Adam&Eve a bible fact. And he was not the first person in heaven, Nowhere in the bible is this mention and there was NO violent confrontation w/his brother Cain, He was killed by his brother Cain in which he never knew this to be the outcome he loved his brother. Facts that are mention in the bible of Genesis.

No person could enter heaven until Jesus presented the value of his perfect human life to his Father in heaven. Abel will be resurrected to earth in the second resurrection (after Armegeddon). Adam will remain dead. Only God knows for sure about the other 2 but hell as a place of firey torment is definately NOT a Bible teaching so if they are not resurrected to earth, they will simply remain dead forever.

Adam and Eve & Cain is dust and gone forever, his ashes have blown away. Genesis 3:19 God pronounced sentence on him. "in the sweat of your face you will eat bread until you return to the ground.for out of it you were taken for dust you are and to dust you will return.
Colossians 1:18 and he is the head of the body, the congregation. He is the beginning, the first born from the dead that he might be first in all things. [Speaking of Jesus]
Many before him were resurrected to live on this earth again but none went to heaven before him.
John 5:28 Do not marvel at this because the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out. Speaking of Judgement day.
So at that time or before Jesus no one was in heaven.

Abel is still in the grave awaiting Judgement day
He will be resurrected [memorial tomb means in God's memory] But those others are just dust.

Adam & Eve were not the first humans. People were created in Genesis Chapter 1. Adam & Eve were created in a seperate act of creation in Chapter 2. If Genesis is true there could have been humans on earth long before Adam & Eve.

Yes, Abel would have went to what was a paradise side of sheol or hell. At that time, no one enter into heaven but they went to a waiting place. He was killed for righteousness sake, not because he wanted to fight Cain. Cain killed him, because Abel made him look bad and exposed his wickedness. Yes, Abel preceded his parents.

God inspired the Bible writers to provide information for us.
the Bible says the dead are conscious of nothing at all.
Jesus said that a day is coming when all the dead will be resurrected.
So according to the Bible, nobody goes anywhere when they die...

but
satan told Eve that she could 'be like God' and that God lied to her when He said she would die if she disobeyed
so I guess if you believe satan, then you believe that you go on living after your body dies

personally, I choose to believe God's inspired Word the Bible and His son Jesus, that the dead are unconscious but that a day is coming when the dead will be resurrected

so, Abel is awaiting the resurrection

That's a good question. Heaven was mentioned in Genesis but only as being created as far as I can remember. It never established the fact the your soul went there or if their was a hell. But assuming that they both exist, Cain would not be in hell for "EXTERMINATING" Able because judgment day has not happened yet.

Its a symbolic story of jealousy and greed. In fact, it came from an even older Greek story about a thousand years earlier with different names.

No one mentions heaven and hell in the story because its left to pure speculation just like all the stories in scriptures are... The greatest fairy tails ever told!

They are stories meant to help teach life lessons. All cultures have similar stories.

So, speculating heaven and hell is analogous to speculating if the Easter Bunny lays eggs and if so, does it affect the Elves decision to build more presents for the children on Santa's nice list.

They are fables.

The first recorded. Adam and Eve had many children. Some of them could have died in a childbirth or at young age etc. : )
