I have a small ant problem, every once in a while I see one, if there's 1 there's gonna be more. I have 2 cats and I'm afraid they'll get to the traps.. What do I do with the ant traps so the cats cant get them..?

dont take the risk and use ant traps...if they so much as get a little of it they will die...there is a spray on the market called home defense once it dries it is safe around domesticated animals...this is what we use and it gives a big enough bottle with a sprayer that usually lasts the whole summer for around $7 at walmart in the garden center

Hi,

Ants like it where it's damp. Put them under the sink or under the sink in the bathroom.

Put them where it can get damp. They get thirsty and go for the damp places.

Most ant traps are made of tough plastic and the ant must crawl inside to get at the poisoned food. They then carry that tainted food back to the ant nest and the colony soon is wiped out...poor ants.

Since the traps are made of plastic and the poison is deep inside, it is doubtful that a cat can access the bait, even a tiny kitten.

You can also put the traps under furniture where the cat or kitten can't go.

Just put them in rooms where the cats couldnt get. Like, if the ants are in the kitchen (since cats shouldnt go in there anyway) just close the kitchen door, because ants can go under the door, but the cats cant.

I live in a warm climate and constantly have ants, a solution of 1/2 vinegar and 1/2 water in a spray bottle works. Won't hurt the kitty but will kill the ants. Once you spray it leave your kitties out of the room for about 5 minutes so they dont inhale it, it's quite a strong smell but will subside after a few minutes.

That is a highly problematical thing. You could try putting the traps where the kitties can't play with them- if you can place them in such a way that the ants will still go to them. One thing I would do is place them under area rugs that didn't get scooted around much.

Good luck!

Ants will usually follow a trail, sounds weird but try to watch them an see where they are coming from, If down a wall perhaps you could use tape or something an stick it up away from the cats reach.

don't use ant traps. just pace basil leaves down. inside or outside. if cats eat them it won't hurt them. ants won't cross over basil leaves for some reason. I've done this for years and not had problem yet and no ants. if you see where they come from place one there. or under door frames leading in and out your house. you could also place around foundation of house or in crawl spaces. good luck

Trap ants some other way

i put them in cupboards that are closed to the cat. the ants still get in there, in fact they seem to like the dark, so it is even more likely if you have a cupboard or draw near were you saw the ant you will be happy, also you can keep it closed and your loved cat out... and the ants will find it...

Try to put them under things in the room with the ants, ae under a couch, under the fridge or microwave stuff like that that your cats can't get into. That's what I do and my cats haven't gotten into them.
