i am looking to become cpr/first aid certified so that i may provide child care or work in a daycare center? i live in michigan. is there any place that i can get it done for free?

These classes are provided by the American Heart Association and are usually not free. However, If you find a place of employment, they may have an instructor they contract with and may cover the cost for you. Good Luck, everyone should know CPR =0)

Most colleges offer cpr and first aid classes through the red cross. If not, go to the red cross website and it will have locations near you to take the classes

It is not going to be free. Sometimes there are grants available to people who cannot pay. Check with your local Red Cross or you can contact your county about a grant. Sometimes if it is for a job, your county's employment resource office may be able to find the training you need for free. They usually have more resources available to them.

Look in the government section of your local phone book. Try and find an adult education listing, they'll get you into whatever course you need. Red Cross is a great organization, but trust me, its not free...

try to local your local red cross association. they should have some free classes there, to certify you in CPR and first aid!

Your local board of education should have a community education program -- there's often CPR courses there. You might also try your local hospital's community education programs -- ours have classes specifically for babysitters.

Usually in most centres, you have to pay for classes. You would be paying for the instructor.
Just remember that the instructors have lives too and will expect to be paid for doing the classes.

Try your local fire department. If they cannot direct you in the right direction, a lot of hospitals will have clinics. If not there, try the red cross or even the salvation army.

Contact your local fire or ambulance department, they periodically give class for a small fee. Also try a church or library in your town. Look on your town website as well. Good look!

Training can be free, but certification almost always costs. For your situation, you need certification in Child and Infant CPR.
