It's interesting how many people say they are Baptized "in the name of the father, son and holy spirit." I know that Jesus commanded Christians to go into the world, baptizing them in the name of the father, son and holy spirit....so why did all the disciples baptize in JESUS NAME? Were they being disobedient? Did every disciple get it wrong...no! Never once in the bible will you see someone being baptized in "the name of the father, son, and holy spirit".
What are your thoughts? Thank you

Then why does it say it in the bible? You cannot be baptized in one and not the others as they are one, the holy trinity, meaning all three.

Acts 2:38 records the Apostle Peter’s words on the day of Pentecost, “Peter replied, ‘Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.’” Christian baptism is in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19). Being baptized in their name simply means we are identifying ourselves with them. We belong to the Father, are saved by the Son, and indwelt by the Spirit. This is similar to how we pray in Jesus’ name (John 14:13). If we pray in the name of Jesus, we are praying with His authority and asking God the Father to act upon our prayers because we come in the name of His Son, Jesus. Being baptized in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit is being baptized in identification with them and their power over and in our lives. Jesus Himself specifically tells us to baptize “in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit” (Matthew 28:19).

In the Book of Acts, new believers were baptized in the name of Jesus (Acts 2:38; 8:12; 8:16; 10:48; 19:5). It is, however, essentially the same thing; Jesus, the Father and the Holy Spirit are one (John 10:30; Acts 16:7). Per Jesus’ own instructions, believers should be baptized in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit – but as the book of Acts proves, baptizing in the name of Jesus is also allowed.

Most of the times someone is baptized, there isn't much detail, just kind of an "and he/she was baptized." Really, the only times a formula is discussed it comes from Christ's lips, as you have mentioned. Of course, in the 1s century, the Didache (the "Teaching of the Twelve Disciples") directly refers to baptism being done with the words "I baptize thee, in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit." The fullest expression of our faith in the Trinity comes when we acknowledge that being baptized merely in Christ is impossible, as he is part of the Triune Godhead, and a baptism in His name can only make sense if we acknowledge the action of the Father and the Spirit in the baptism. Remember that, at Christ's baptism, all three member of the Trinity are present (the Father's voice descends, and the Spirit takes the form of a dove). On the same way, we are not forsaking the other members of the Trinity, but are invoking them entirely, by each of their proper names, to wash the soul of the baptized.

This is the Trinity. The word "Trinity" is not mentioned in the Bible--but God is; His Son Jesus is; and the Holy Spirit is. In Acts, those who accepted Paul's message were baptized--about 3,000 in one day. It really doesn't say what he said to each of them. Paul also baptized the Ethopian Eunuch, but there again it doesn't specifically say what Paul said. The Trinity is three in one. The disciples were not being disobedient if that's how you feel.

Baptizim is a symbol.. and its symbolizing the death and reserrection of Jesus.. when u go down in the water its the 'death' of your old self..and when u come up..its the 'new'..resserected YOU! As far as what name u baptize in... its Jesus,,..but some believe and im one of them..that Jesus is Trinity... father , son and Holy Spirit. ONE in the same. i personaly was baptized in the name of the Father Son and Holy Spirit. Most religions are different tho..ofcourse BUT i would like to think that Jesus isnt judging whos name its done in..so long as its done with a good clean heart .. thats my opinion ONLY,,,everyones different

Even to day people don't entirely agree. I feel that they had walked, talked, and worked with Jesus . They knew him. so.... they were baptizing in what they knew. They were not familiar with the Father or Holy Spirit personally Just doing what they knew. Although they are one . ( the Trinity) I don't think they fully had this concept yet. Finally I say just get the job done. Get Baptized. There may be a few thumbs downs. here. but there are thumbs ups, in heaven.

I consider myself to be baptized in the name of the Father, son and holy spirit. Basically, I had to first understand the nature of all 3 and accept their role in my new life as a Christian Jehovah's Witness.

"In the name of Jesus" is explained in Col. means by His authority not a formula you say. Col 3:17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him

You must be baptized in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit for the remission of your sins. (Matthew 28:18,19 and Acts 2:38).

"In the name of" means "because God says" to be baptized, is like when a policeman knocks on your door, and says "open up in the name of the law". That means you have to open the door because the law says so.

Christ commanded "in the name of" meaning by the authority of. Christ has been given all authority in heaven and on earth.

Christ commanded in the name of the Father,Son,Holy Spirit....so it is always best to do what He said.

It wasn't about actually having to say the words. "I baptize you in the name of...". It was about the disciple (the one being baptized) having an accurate knowledge of God, Christ and the holy spirit.

Who God is - Jehovah, the Grand Creator.

Who Jesus is - the only begotten son - the Messianic king of the kingdom of God.

What the holy spirit it - God's active force - the power he uses to create and sustain and support life, as well as to give strength to his followers to endure.

And it is about understanding the role of each one and how their roles impact each of us.

The trinity is a single entity to baptize in the name of Christ, God or the Spirit is to baptize in the name of all three.

I would just like to tell the asker of the question....that Easter is a holiday that has nothing to do with Baptism. It is about Christs resurrection and ascension into Heaven.
