The whole global waming thing is a scam created by environmentalists to get money for their pet projects. These organizations bring in millions every year through state and federal programs as well as individuals donating to them. Weather is cyclical and always has been. By using scare tactics environmentalists can raise millions of dollars to pay for their own studies that confirm their beliefs about global warming. Read the novel "State of Fear" by Michael Crichton for a good read. The bibliography has many of the studies listed.

The earth seems to be warming and I do believe it is quite true.
Just what the cause is I am not sure. Man is part of it but I don't think he is the only cause. The earth has been getting warmer little by litle for a long time. Once ice was covering more than half of all land.
One masive volcanic eruption can change the trend overnight. A comet or astoroid can cause a sudden change as well.
When it was the age of the monster crteatures and massive vegitation the earth was much warmer than it is now. No ice at either of the poles then.

I've independently studied both sides of the GW debate (no funding, no allegiances, no political interference just able to get on and look at everything). Add some specific points to your question and I might be able to give more info.
General synopsis: GW isn't a smokescreen, it's only recently it's become a political issue, scientists have known about it since 1896 (eighteen 96) and have been sounding alarm bells since the mid 1950's. It is often over dramatised by the media who report things as if there's no hope left for any of us. There's plenty of hope left, things aren't necessarily as bad as they seem and progress is being made in ways to combat greenhouse gases, if some come to fruition we can continue pretty much as we are, no radical lifestyle changes, no sacrifices to be made and not that expensive either - perhaps $50 per person.
There's never really been any studies to prove GW isnlt true because there isn't any evidence to study. I know there's loads of reasons people cite in the case against GW but these are often nothing more than random soundbites with no substance to them.
Not saying there's no reason to accept everything that's reported or even to beleive eveything. Sensible debate from all sides is essential and questioning things in a responsible manner leads to further understanding and development.
In truth, most studies that have been conducted are more or less impartial. Unfortunately in the US the debate has become a political issue whereas outside the US the scientists are freer to get on with their work without politicians pushing for results one way or another. For example, here in the UK most studies are conducted by groups with no political involvement or of there is political involvement then it's a multi-party group representing all sides of the political spectrum - it keeps things balanced and in focus.

Actually, there hasn't been a single study done with the intent of showing that AGW doesn't exist. For the simple reason that such a test would be pointless. It isn't possible to prove that something *doesn't* exist, after all.
If, however, predictions made by AGW theory prove false, then the entire theory is worthless. Unfortunately for us humans this hasn't happened yet. In fact, the predictions made by the theory have been astoundingly accurate so far.

I don't know if taking measurements at a glacier that is continually shrinking is predetermined. After all, it's hard to try and bring that about with a blowtorch. The studies don't necessarily PROVE that warming is either true or not, they just provide evidence, it's for us to make a judgement.

An interesting article by Tim Ball, Phd: http://www.canadafreepress.com/2007/global-warming020507.htm
Global warming exists & is primarily caused by sun activity. For some reason it has become a hyped up subject as shown by over the top "science" as in An Inconvenient Truth. My prediction is that mankind will, in our great conceit, spend billions of $ on this subject to little effect on the earth's climate. Read, Read, Read & you will find that many people are distressed by bad science & foolish ideas to slow or reverse the warming "caused" by man. Shouldn't we be putting valuable resources into things that we can actually do something about? When the planet goes into a cooling cycle will we claim that we fixed it? Did we cause the mini ice age?

Well they have added scientist names who have had to sue for lible to get their names removed from that list of MAN MADE global warming endorsers. I want to know how my '68 GMC also heated up Mars (4 times warmer in the same period), Jupiter, Saturn, Pluto and several moons as well? It's a ll a bunch of hooey from the same "end is near" crowd we've been hearing from since John wrote "Revelations", and yes, Al Gore's "global warming" is just another nutjob religion. the planet's climate has always changed, it always will, and people who think that man has that much control over the planet's mechanisms are just deluding themselves into thinking man is important in the big picture. But the politicians and big corporations as well as scientists seeking more government grants, fame, and studies programs, smell an opportunity to fleece the consumers and taxpayers once again. It's all a hoax, an Orwellian nightmare of a handful of elites trying to tell every person on earth how they will be allowed to live. It's the danger of mass media becoming the means of mass brainwashing, everyone literally is plugged in to a "matrix". WAKE UP!

You are mistaken. At this point, virtually ALL scientists agree that global warming is happening. I do not know of any current studies that are trying to determine that which has already been proven.
