I just got my second tattoo about a week ago and its healed fine (i think), but it itches really bad! I don't remember my first one itching. Is it normal or is that weird?

after one week your tattoo is not healed. the scabs may have come off but the skin is still healing. part of that healing includes itching. it's just what the body does. i had a tattoo done two weeks ago today and mine still itches, mine tend to itch forever it seems. so itching is totally normal.

If it's only a week old then it's unlikely to be completely healed. And yes, itching during healing is perfectly normal. The amount of itching can vary from tattoo to tattoo, so maybe last time you just lucked out and didn't experience it all that much... it can be incredibly irritating, particularly because it's really important not to scratch the area (or you could damage your new tattoo)

Hope this helps!

Hey, it's the same for me. I got my second tattoo two and a half weeks ago, and it still itches like crazy! The first one I got was no problem, and it was bigger and darker, so who knows? Maybe the first tattoo's a freebie lol. I've asked a lot of people about mine, also, since it's been so long, and it's super annoying, but apparently nothing's wrong with it. It's normal. So I just keep slathering stuff on it, cuz that calms the itching a little bit when I first put it on, besides that being what you're supposed to do anyways. My friend recommended just kinda slapping at it, since I can't scatch. I just wish it would quit someday, but hey, at least we're in this together. :)

Perfectly normal, try applying a thin layer of white unscented hand lotion (i recommend lubriderm advanced care) 3-5 times a day. Stay away from oil-rich moisturizers and vaseline type products, remember to wash your hands before each application. You don't want to SOAK your tattoo in the lotion, just rub in a little bit real good.

Wear loose, clean clothing over it (if it is in a clothing covered area) and no scratching!

Don't worry too much, itching is a natural sign of the body trying to heal itself. Peeling and scabbing are also to be expected (if it hasnt already).

Hi the scab draws the ink from the tattoo which is why they say never to pick your scabs.. if you get them, you should avoid moisturising creams such as e45, vaseline etc, as these feed the scab, that add moisture, making scab thicker.. use preperation H ointment, or bepantham nappy rash cream, most tattoo shops sell these.. regarding the colour being a different colour to that's normal, you may notice a shiny layer of skin still covering the tattoo which gives it a grey effect.. again normal just dint pick or scratch. if you do ink will be pulled from tattoo and you will need it re coloured

My tattoo itched like crazy until the scabbing fell off. Keep it moist with lotion or cream and that will help keep the itching down. I've found tattoos itch most when they get dry.

Its not healed all the way underneath.
Tattoos nothing more than an abrasion, or minor burn. Itching is part of the healing process.
