This probably varies from state to state. If your parents OK it, I would just check with the owners / operators of the kennel facility. There are inherent hazards working with dogs (read: you might be bitten) especially with dogs in a kennel situation who are away from home and familiar surroundings; even a normally placid dog may become stranger and/or fear agressive. The owners would know whether their insurance would cover someone your age. I work at a Doggie Day Care & Boarding facility and I believe the youngest person we have had there was 15; and she was always paired with an older experienced adult. Ever try to break up a fight between a Great Dane and a Boxer? Then you get the picture. But they may just need someone to walk the dogs or clean the kennels and runs too.

Yes it is legal. You must get a work permit and your parents will have to sign it. You'll be able to work only so many hours a week. I think it would be a great job for you. I am a retired vet tech. and it was the best job of my life. Of course cleaning the kennels is usually where we all start. Have fun and good luck.

Maybe. Go over there and see if they could hire you. If they do then try to balance the job as well as school, chores, family etc. If you don't get the job then don't worry about it. There are other jobs with dogs you could do like dog walking. I'd LOVE to get a job with dogs too but I'm only 12. :)

Yes, I believe it is.

I've been going to work with my dad who's a general contractor & finish carpenter since I was 5, if not younger.

The best way to find out if the dog kennel will accept you, is if you go there and ask them yourself.

I'm sure you'll enjoy working there. Good luck & have fun!

There is no way to tell you without knowing what state you live in. All states have different child labor laws. You need to do a web search for your state's dept. of labor.
