I'm not looking for religious answers. Just, do you think people contribute to the planet in a positive way like other animals?

No without us there would be no nuclear waste and raw sewage ....... JUST KIDDING!!!.
Of course as far as nature goes humans are having a negative impact on it , that is obvious to most people . Unfortunately people like to live comfortably with all the comforts such as a house , car , electricity , clothing , tools etc. Most people are unwilling to do with out these things if they can afford it. If everyone conserves and uses less material things nature would benefit but it also might create high unemployment , so there is no easy answer that is for sure.

"Like other animals"? The dinosaurs brought evolution to a screeching halt, which would have continued were it not for that asteroid. Animals do not 'contribute' positively or negatively. They merely exist. Cattle and termites produce more carbon dioxide than humans ever did. Why aren't you blaming THEM? Let's not be quite so self-loathing, okay?

Yes, definitely. People have done nothing but pollute and hurt the planet. Have we really ever done anything that has helped the planet--- like something good for it that wouldn't be here if we weren't here? But if there were no people, there wouldn't be me, or you. If there weren't people, there would be no yahoo answers!

I'm not sure how Earth is reacting to all us organisms digging, burning and manipulating the planet as we are. A great dream would be to see the Earth before all the people, construction, burning of fossil fuels and pollution. Surreal I would imagine.

We've made a mess of the planet in so many ways - mining, quarrying, pollution, landfill, contamination; chemical, nuclear and toxic wastes, deforestation, oil and mineral extraction, fertilisers etc etc

So yes, I think it would be in a healthier state if we weren't around.
