It bloody well should, the amount of time and money that goes into treating these self-inflicting addicts who think it's OK to try to poison others..."it's their 'right' you know'"

All tax goes into a central "pot" and G Brown decides what proportion of the whole goes on which services. It is not correct to say though that the tax on cigarettes goes direct to NHS...

Well I'm not sure about UK, but if America ever stopped taxing cigarettes, or everyone quit smoking all on the same day, our entire economy would collapse.

No, but it does line the pockets of corrupt politicians, and forces poor people to be criminals, meaning they are so expensive due to taxation that they have to steal the cigarettes, or purchase them illegally from an underground source... and thanks to our pitiful tax and spend corruptament here in the once good ol USA those exact situations are developing more and more...

It actually costs about 37p to make a 20 packet of cigs. that shows you how much the government make from people who smoke.
