Am about to administer a hearing test of my own in the form of a lawsuit against named individuals and a corporate body. Until the jury is "in": on that one, right now I would have to say you don't really get to speak at work, but you sure can be heard on the internet.

There are 300 million people here. You got to scream a lot louder than that to be heard.

Thats why the US is not a true democracy and should not be one. Peoples voices are lost in the numbers.

If you look at the smaller nations, they rank higher in most surveys. Belgium, Luxmeberg and Netherland in pay and living standard. Netherland rank #1 in child welfare. life span - San Marino is number 1 and Monaco and singapore are high up. Hong Kong use to be number 2 but Chinese pollution knocked it down. Singapore rank high in judicial system. Thats because the country is smaller and more responsive to the people. That is why I feel strongly on states rights.

of course you get heard! american government has many forums for individual citizens to speak their piece. the part you might actually be referring to is getting the response you think your voice deserves.

you should see the anti-walmart documentary, the high cost of low price, where local citizens fought to keep walmart out of their neighborhoods. or historically, the protests against the vietnam war and segregation in the south. these movements were started by individuals who wouldn't be ignored...

so stop being lazy - if ya got something to say that needs some action, get up on that soapbox and let us know whassup!

You get heard, the problem is sometimes the people who hear you are not who you were trying to talk to in the first place.

No one owes anyone to listen. They don't even owe us a platform (thank you, Yahoo!), but some people think their opposition shouldn't get to talk at all, or that they should be restricted.

YOU should have free speech, I should have free speech, Republican Talk Radio should have free speech, Air America should have free speech, Christians should have free speech, and Islamic people should have free speech.

But no one deserves to be heard. That's silly.

(shrug).

You definately have a right to speak. However, everyone also has a right not to listen if they don't want to.

So, if you're saying something unpopular, or disagreeable, or just downright stupid, no, you probably won't be heard.
