The Wikipedia has great detailed info on this.
Before expecting any medicine to work, FIRST, you should look at diet.
Diet pop, caffeine, and alcohol aggravate RLS.
Try regular aerobic excercise, and yoga/meditation with a sensible diet.

If it does not interfere with your life, I would not see a doctor at this time. If it get's worse, then definitely see a doctor.
Before you go to see a doctor, I would suggest a daily regiment of STRONG aerobic leg exercises.
There is two you should do;
1. The Step. Put it by your bed. Before you go to bed, do as many steps as you can. Your goal is 100 steps. Do with arch support tennis or walking shoes. Do 10 steps, pause, 10 steps, pause, etc.
When you wake up, do as many steps as you can. Your goal is again, 100 steps. Do with arch support tennis or walking shoes. Again, 10, pause, etc.
2. Jumping jacks. Do these in groups of 10. 10 jumping jacks, pause, rest for a minute, resume. Your goal is a MINIMUM of 100 jumping jacks a day. Do with arch support tennis or walking shoes.
I have been exercising for 21 years (I am 54 years old). I do DAILY 200 The Step, with a weighted 100 lb. vest and DAILY 500 jumping jacks (I do The Step at home and jumping jacks at work; 100 when I arrive, 100 at break, 100 at lunch, 100 at second break, and 100 when I come home.
I always do them in groups of 10, including The Step exercises. Your body appreciates it better. This is a NO EGO exercise so take your time.
I use to have terrible leg cramps, the kind where you feel that knives were sticking in your thighs and the back of your calves.
21 years of pain-free and my legs are as strong as steel.
Hope this helps.

I have them but they only occur very rarely. Since its not bad I wouldn't bother going to the doctor.
