For lunch I usually have a sandwich. Which type of bread would be healthier to eat? 2 slices of 100% whole wheat bread. Or just one slice of that whole wheat pita bread.

The pita bread only has 60 calories combined.

The whole wheat bread has 80 calories per slice, since I need two it's a total of 160 calories.

I'm on a diet so I'm trying to watch/count the calorie intake.

Try eating something besides 'sandwiches' at every lunch. You could have a nice salad with 'a piece of bread' and you can get OTHER BREAD besides 'whole wheat' ... I LOVE 'hazelnut poppy-seed' bread but I HATE SANDWICHES. Just be sure that you are NOT EATING TOO LITTLE (in both calories and 'satisfaction' at lunch) ... your LUNCH should really be your 'biggest' meal of the day if you want to be TOTALLY HEALTHY.

Eat the whole wheat. Whole wheat & grains keep you fuller for a lot longer then pita bread, which only contains white flour. And if you're full, you'll be less tempted to eat more later on.

BUT: Make sure it's REAL whole grain bread. Whole wheat pre-sliced bread from, say, Wal-Mart is NEVER as good as whole grain wheat bread from a health store. Whole Foods is a great place to buy whole grain bread.

The pita bread is definitely healthier to eat because it has less sugar then whole wheat bread, fewer calories, and much less carbohydrates. Although it is good to have few carbs, its better to stay as minimal as possible.Try and stuff that pita pocket up with tons of veggies to fill you up! good luck on your diet,you can do it if you have the strong desire!!

I would eat the whole wheat pita bread and save myself 100 calories. It seems like few calories, but every calorie you save adds up to weight loss.

I would go for pita bread not only because it is lower in calories based on the figures you gave but also having the pita bread can add a little excitement to your sandwich when it comes to flavor.

you eat arabic bread? but go for the whole wheat that makes you full, i know my aunt only eats whole wheat pita bread. choice which ever one you are most comfortable with.

Switch it up. They are healthy in different ways, but it's such a small difference that it really doesn't matter that much, unless you're on a strict doctor-ordered diet.

But pitas are more fun :), just go with whatever you're in the mood for. Both foods are great for you.
