As for the "mint condition", you are going to have to be the one to ensure that. Have it inspected by an independent mechanic before you buy. $100 for an inspection is much better than a $3000 repair in a few months.

Younger drivers tend to sell online versus older drivers selling through newspapers. Older drivers tend to care better for their cars and are less likely to beat on them. Search the classifieds of your local papers and be patient; your car will show up...never settle for something you don't want. I bought a mint condition used car with low mileage, perfect maitenance, and at a very reasonable price from a newspaper ad. The owner was an older couple in their late 60s, early 70s.

That is the worst way to buy a car unless you know the seller. Go to a new car dealer and ask which cars were traded in on brand new vehicles. Also make sure you get the brands the dealer sells new. Never buy a GM car from a Ford dealer or vice versa. Most major dealers have warranties. Yesterday, I bought a 2003 Buick Centery with 24000 miles on it. The man that owned it traded it in on a new Chevy Pickup. Shop around and NEVER pay what they ask. The Buick still smells new and they wanted $10,950 for it. I bought the car for $9200.

The largest source would be the local newspaper for local cars. Then there is E-bay who will have provate owners and dealers too. Good luck just remember when you buy used from a private owner it's as is. get it checked out by a mechanic before not after you buy it.
