Yes you will absorb protein and vitamins from milk.
Lactose is just a type of sugar that is found in dairy products. Lactose is broken down in our digestive tract by an enzyme called Lactase. People who are lactose intolerant lack this enzyme and the sugar is not broken down. Since the sugar is not broken down, it can't be absorbed and passes further down your digestive tract. Eventually the sugar reaches the bacteria in your tract; the bacteria have no problem breaking down the sugar and so they digest it. When bacteria "eat" food, they produce gas as a by product, hence the gassy feeling you probably have when you eat regular dairy. Protein is broken down via other methods so your body can still get most of the other things!
Unfortunately sometimes, your body "senses" that it is not digesting the milk properly so you can have episodes of "Gastric Dumping". Here, your body basically flushes out the dairy -- this has happened when you get diarrhea after eating dairy.
The only way Lactose intolerance prevents you from absorbing things is during cases of gastric dumping because the food gets flushed out to quickly
Try taking a lactaid with each serving of dairy to prevent this gastric dumping (and bloating)! Or buying lactose free dairy or soy substitutes! (I like Silk vanilla).

The short answer is yes. The inability to metabolize lactose is simply the body's lack of the lactase enzyme in the digestive system. Remove the lactose in milk and the body has no problems metabolizing and digesting milk. Many companies now produce low-lactose or 0% lactose products with all of the normal ingredients, vitamins and calcium of normal milk but is simply missing the lactose component. These products can be consumed by lactose-intolerant individuals without any ill effects and doesn't taste any different from normal homogenized milk.

Sexy T is on the right track. Being lactose intolerant will only set up an internal condition that prevents you from absorbing all the nutrients. You would do much better by going for soy milk or something similar.

You should take the medication that allows you to handle milk products without getting the gas and bloating. Then your body will be able to absorb the protein and other nutrients. You're still probably getting most of them.

Lactose intolerance means that you are allergic to the milk sugar.
You may absorb the other nutrients, but more than likely, you will crap them out.

No. It will give you diarrhea and you will waste whatever you ingested with the lactose. Get 100% lactaid milk or soy milk.
Whey protein is not a problem because it only contains the protein (if it is any good) and none of the lactose.
