Both of us have made the drive (7 hours) several times before. He will be staying (sleeping) with his grandparents and I will be staying with mine, about an hour away from eachother. We want to take a day trip to Cedar Point. He's 18, I'm 17. All we want is some company on the drive and a day together, plus, we both get to meet the others grandparents/family. His parents are fine with it, my mom says no because she doesn't want my grandparents to have to worry about things like what time I get back in, a.k.a have to be my temp. parents. I am allowed, however, to go visit my grandparents without him. But not with. What?!

Don’t ‘just go’ as others have advised. Boyfriend--an adult--will be transporting a minor across state lines without parental permission. That’s illegal. FEDERAL CHARGES. BIG TROUBLE. Unless you can convince Mom to change her mind, you stay home.

Once you turn 18, you can go.

I think that Mom not wanting to ask your Grandparents to worry and monitor your behavior is reasonable. If you both were 18, at least it would be legal if you got carried away. But legally you are still under age.

Mom may need a minute to adjust to the idea of her girl growing up. How soon will you be 18? If it soon, maybe put the idea on hold.

She shouldn't really care. She knows that you will be safe and just want some fun. Sit down and have a talk with her and say that I will be fine and wont go out partying or something. Plus how long has it been since you've seen your grandparents? Bring that up too!

They don't want to impose on their parents to be responsible for you but I doubt that's the main problem. Who cares where you're sleeping when you're going to be alone together hours away from home? You could stop at a hotel or anywhere. He could be in mexico with you selling you off to the highest bidder before anyone even started to look for you.

Actually, Latin American Countries arent the greatest, but by no means are they as bad as some of the places in Africa. Those countries are actually pretty nice. I think that Peru would be pretty cool, seeing Maccu Piccu. And Argentina has real nice architecture, and great accordion music. But the only hispanic country Ive gone to is Mexico (sorry). But it was really nice where i was. It was on the Yucatan. The resort was real nice, and its pretty cool to see the Mayan ruins, but it was really hot.

Well, it's the sort of thing I would think they could say yes to. You made it to 17, one year away from a legal adult. It doesn't make sense to me to stop you from doing something so benign at your age. BTW, their reason is made up, they are just afraid you guys will do stuff and/or get hurt. They should at least be honest.

i think its becasuse your mom doesn't like him. Your almost an adult, so maybe sit your mom down and ask her and have her shar her point of view and then do the same and work out a compromise...

they dont want you screwing and they thing that by you going with him youre going to take a detour. sorry, parents are paranoid, no way around it. and in plus, what if they are right? would you blame them for being concerned?

go with it girl.. just go,
call your grandparents,
tell them you'll be back when you'll be back,
5am would be fine...

dont tell them you'll be back at about 11pm.. cause then they'll just worry

aww and another tip.. your old enough to decide for yourself.
