I think that's the Maine Coon... the battle cruiser of household kitties!

These cats average around 20 pounds and are very people oriented cats. They have medium length fur and cover the entire range of color and patterns -- from gray tabbies to calico.

They actually were breed in Maine and are the official "state cat." They have big paws compared to other breeds -- this for walking atop the snow when out mousing. One of the interesting traits about them is they grow slowly; not reaching full size till about four-years-old.

Oddly they have very soft voices for their size. The other interesting personality aspect is that while people oriented, they aren't "clingy" cats, preferring to just "hang out" with their owners.

They make a great addition to any home.

Like the others said, a Maine Coon. I have one who is part MC and he's pretty big...about 17 lbs. Everyone always comments on how big he is. They are a great breed...super friendly and very loving. I saw a pure bred once at a shelter that made mine look small.

Ragdoll and Maine Coon enthusiasts will argue that their cat sets the standard for heftiness. I think I’ll play it safe and call it a tie.

well i have a male tabby and he is pretty big and very snuggly. if you intend to get a cat i would get a boy because they are more friendlier and snugglier than females and females tend to scratch a bit more...
