What is the ultimate authority in your life?
If you belief God inspired the Bible, then either you submit to its authority or you are in rebellion.
After reading the Bible regularly for well over 30 years, I have noticed that if there is one thing that destroys men's lives, it is not listening to God when He speaks.
It is a dangerous thing to make an idol of your own opinion.
"To this one will I (the LORD) have regard: to him who is of a humble and contrite spirit, and who trembles at My word." (Isaiah 66:2)

Fundamentalist Christians go on nothing more than what their own faith when it comes to figuring out how the universe works while atheists for the most part are open to new information, none of which supports fundamentalist ideas. Imagine a world where you were the only one who didn't believe in an invisible all knowing Flying Spaghetti Monster. That is how most atheist feel, and though it may drive some to be just as aggressive as some far right Christians, they still have the advantage in the rational department.

So, which question do I answer? Actually, you can be a fundamentalist and NOT be a Christian. Did you know that? It's true. You can be an Islamic fundamentalist, a Buddist fundamentalist, or a bunch of others that are out there. Fundamentalist just means that the person is very strict about following the "rules" of their faith. I am a Christian, yet I don't point my fingers at people & feel superior to others. I do quote scripture, when asked, and I do it with the authority that the Bible gives to those who read it and believe in it. When you totally trust in something or Someone, how could you not believe that that's the way it is? I do Not think I'm God, nor do I act like it. I'm human like everyone else, and have faults and I commit sin occasionally, though I don't make it a practice to sin. You're right, God is the ultimate authority, and not just with scripture (after all, it is His words). No one but God can see your heart...you're right about that. He alone knows the condition of your life, and your commitments. Thank you for your offer of prayer. We all need more prayer in our lives, and need people to pray for us. I'm not unhappy, and I don't pass judgement onto others. It's just not a thing I do. It's a waste of time and I got better things to do than to make myself feel better. It's unfortunate, but it would be very hard for everyone to worship together because many people have their own ideas on what & how to worship. I'm a Christian biker and I hang out with those who not many wish to hang out with. They have their own brand of lifestyle, but are very observant of others & how they relate to one another. If you're not living as you're preaching, you have no right to talk to them about how Jesus has made a difference in your life. They just lock you right out. What's my point? It's obvious that you've been exposed to either baby Christians or Christian wannabe's. Neither one knows how to "walk" in the Lord. Therefore, they don't know how to "talk" with love and grace. I'm sorry, on their behalf, that they've given you the wrong view of what a Christian is supposed to be. I just wanted you to know that we're not all like that. Have a blessed Resurrection Day. <*)))><

I highly, highly recommend for you to go to revolutionnyc.com, and downloading some of jay bakker's sermons off of itunes (if you use itunes. I'm sure there are other ways of downloading the podcast.) Anyway, it is a christian church of the best kind-accepting of everyone. Jay Bakker is the son of Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker. He turned away from the church after the church turned away from his parents after the big scandal. He became an alcoholic punk. (He sports many tattoos and a few piercings.) Anyway, some of his Christian friends didn't give up on him, and he is now the head of a church in New York City. He isn't a particularly powerful speaker, but his words and love for Christ absolutely move me-and I'm not even Christian. From him, I have learned love and respect for Christians like I've never felt before. I used to feel that you were all fundamentalists. Anyway, even if you already go to a church, I feel this will still enrich your life. God Bless, or whatever it is you people say. ;)

Christian hate and judge because we are so much better than everyone else.... NOT!! I have and will fail my Lord in the worst ways possible. If He wasn't the God He is I would long since be lost. I have no good about me that makes me in anyway better than other people. In fact my study of His word has shown me the exact opposite. I am morally more corrupt than most people. I see others who have a lot more love for their fellow man than I do.. I fall so short of being the man He would have me be I deserve to go to hell.. Only through His work on my behalf have I come to realize that I am not alone in this opinion, that many other feel the same way about themselves. But we know that we are important and valuable before God because of what He did to make us His own.... Jim

Try not to judge the people you feel are Fundamentalists.
You right in we cannot see each others hearts, Only God Can do that. You ask for people judgement/opinions/feelings & they have given it to you. This doesn't make them Fundamentalist
Iam not a fundamentalist, I don't condem the people of same sex wants, I do condem the Sin. It is the same with all the sins.unless we truely give them to God they come back time & time & time etc again. In this you aren't alone. Each of us have inflictions we must bare, they are our cross. in conquereing them through the love & power of God we are become strengthened in His love.
Praying for other is a great thing. 1John2.10 tells us to pray for each other and one day we will worship together in unity.

You lost me when you said "trying to pass judgment on others just to justify their own meager existence..."
When I became a Christian, it was the most humbling experience I have ever felt. There isn't any way that the gift of salvation for ME, a sinner, makes me feel superior.
Your question seems to want to paint all Christians with the same brush. I'm sorry that you have felt under attack, and I hope you find your answers.
blessings :)

Christians SHOULD feel more humility than anyone else in the world; the whole point of being a Christian is recognizing that we are evil sinners, and that we are absolutely nothing without Christ. What do we have to brag about? Nothing! The only thing we have to brag about is how awesome our God is! Other than that, any Christian who puts you down or judges you is not a true Christian at all.

We are sinners saved by grace. Dont be offended by the wisdom of God. Only God is our judge. Have some patience and just pray for people who are prideful. Harbor no sin in your heart and ask the Lord if there is any wicked way in you so your prayers wont be hindered by disobedience to the Lord as you pray. God bless you

No, I do not feel superior to you or anyone else. Ok. You're gay. That is between God and you ONLY. I am NOT your judge. As a believer like me, you're more than welcome to join me and my family at the dinner table. How dare anyone judge you? Personally, I believe God allows gays because He wants to see how many of His people are willing to be so damn judgemental and hypocritical. It's a true discriminator between the lowly and meek, and the "high and mighty".
