People choose not to check their spelling for a number of reasons.

1. They think that their spelling is all correct.
2. They are too lazy to check.
3. They do not know how to check their spelling.
4. They think that it would take too much time to check.

I think that most people are basically numbers 2 and 4.

It's not very lazy at all some people might be dyslexic who knows? Some people like to answer questions quickly so if it goes to voting people normally pick the first answer whether it is spelt correctly or not

I type for a living and I know where the keys are without looking at them (100+ words a min) - someone starting out cannot do that but they pick up speed with being on the computer it is not their fault .. sometimes even I spell things wrong very rarely but it happens there is no one perfect in here

Give it a rest ... if people can understand the question and respond to it then feck the spelling or the grammar

Winnie:

People do not understand the importance of correct spelling. It is a representation of the writer and they don't have an appreciation for the power of the pen. There is no excuse for sending any form of communication without spell checking.

Another perspective is many Americans are challenged with comprehension, reading and writing, so why use spell check?

50 percent of American adults are unable to read an eighth grade level book, therefore if you can't read, you can't write.
Just a thought...

you're fairly correct. a number of the spellings in YA questions and also in solutions, are deplorable, and supplies you me the shivers. no longer that my English is solid, or grammar and punctuation are perfect, yet i'm completely at a loss to understand why human beings do not use the spell-verify facility presented for solutions and questions. all of us make blunders, and it isn't truthful to pinpoint them when we come throughout the time of them. I too had an similar challenge like you, in answering what I felt were solid questions (in spite of the unfavorable spelling), yet had to end the tries because the spellings created a doubt as to what the asker fairly needs to understand. actual those who ask questions could do not neglect that lesser the spelling blunders, the more advantageous positive could be possibilities of drawing more advantageous responses. This dialogue board attracts questions and solutions from global huge. the criteria of English and its utilization in some international locations isn't as a lot because the point one could anticipate from human beings whose 'mom tongue' is English. that's basic to understand the spelling blunders of their writing. notwithstanding, what's gloomy is that even those who talk in simple terms English and don't know the different language, are careless of their spelling.

I agree! I also hate all of the "quick" typing that people use. Incorrect spelling drives me nuts! Example; "How r u doing 2day?"
AAARRGGHHHH!
I think that spell check would pick up on that and that is why a lot of people don't bother using it. It would be tedious.
Either that or they just DON'T CARE!!
