I don't know about the United States or other countries, but in Canada it is illegal for corrections officers to pin down any inmate to do a cavity search. Canadain Corrections Officers are not even allowed to preform such searches even with inmates permission. All they are allowed to do is instruct the inmate to bend over and spread their cheeks and to 'move and lift the boys', that's it. The pens in Canada have 'dry cells' where an inmate suspected of 'suit casing' is held for 72 hours and must be release thereafter. If it is necessary for a cavity search then the inmate is allowed a lawyer's instruction and also attendance, and only a qualified, registered doctor of the province is allowed to do a cavity search.

Yepper Depper, they sure do! Why? Because when they take a person into custody, they are solely responsible for the safety & well being of that prisoner & ALL of the others that they will come into contact with while they are in custody (jail). They want to make sure you don't have anything up there that could hurt YOU or anyone else. If you have a rash, it is so noted on your file & you are sent to medical for evaluation & treatment , if needed. If you had drugs up there, they are then added to your charges, & if you have anything else up there, you are asked to remove it, or it is removed for you. It's best to cooperate with the arresting Officers & Jail Staff. Getting stupid gets you hurt. You are outnumbered & outclassed in a situation like this.

Yes you must spread em' and YES if you don't, a medical person will arrive shortly to be the one to conduct the search, and the officers will assist the medical person. Better pucker em really tight, cause they will poke. I have worked with correction officers and have actually asked this. The officers can NOT legally do it, but they will have a medical person there that WILL and LEGALLY can conduct a cavity search.

Yes the inmate or prisoner is "required" to a complete search, and if forced the officers will make them comply in what ever way they have to.
Same way in prison if they won't shave, at some point a specific group of officers come in and help them shave, it is not a pretty site.

I believe this only applies to overnight guests.
For a booking and release process, this is not done in GA.

No, nor do I know of any officers that would even think of doing it. But what they would do, is get the nurse to give you one of those bottles of stuff to make you crap like a race horse. To make sure that your not hiding anything in there. Probably the best thing to do is not put yourself in a position like that where you will have to make that choice.

In jail, yes they would. Policy here in my city is that any actual cavity searches must be done at the hospital.

YUP....in custody you MUST follow procedure for the officers safety and that of the other inmates....they will not only force you but add charges of resisting or failure to follow the directions of an officer...

Better just to do as they say. The whole process is bad enough without 'asking' for more.
