My friend has told me that his laptop is filled with viruses, loads of spyware, and just general junk, and he said that if i can restore it to a brand new condition he will pay me, I know there is software out there, but I can seem to find any.
Anyone able to help me please? :)

Reinstall the Operating System it clears your hard drive but loses all the old data and programs its quite easy he would have got a disk that re-installes the OS.

I have used AVG Anti Virus, Zone Alarm Firewall, Spy-bot Search and Destroy and Ad Aware both spyware killers for years. They are all free for personal use and I have had no trouble with Viruses Trojans etc. AVG does not slow the system down as much as some other products and Zone Alarm allows a lot of personal configuration unlike the Windows Firewall. They can all be downloaded from the following link. http://www.computeractive.co.uk/ On the home page select downloads and then the appropriate category.I also use Windows Defender from the Microsoft site. It is safe to use two anti-spy products but never use more than one A/V as it can cause conflicts. Hope this helps.

If your Friend does not have a WINDOWS installation disk with a valid registration number, you cannot do a fresh reinstall. And that is the only way to get it back to "like brand new condition"
You did not name the Operating System, WINDOWS 98. or ME, or 2000, or NT4.0, or XP. Different solutions each one.

You will need to install all of the programs that were on it, and also all of the drivers. The best way is to get SpyBot and run it, also run at boot. Update and get a better anti virus program. Do an online scan and if its Windows, get AWC (Advanced Windows Care) AWCSetup.exe. Get a good reg cleaner. I like Ace Utility, bet ccleaner is good too.

click start
somewhere it should say "help and support"
click it
on your right hand side, somewhere it will say "system restore"
