Oh my dear sweet man, I was on a quest to find that answer last year, and I never really found one. It's sort of a complicated situation; if you IM me Il'l tell you all I've learned about it (it would take too much room on here, lol). My personal opinion is that if you are saved, God will most likely not turn you away because you got a tattoo that says "Jesus Rocks!", lol. I'll be online for a little while longer if you wish to IM me.

I don't think there really is a "Christian" view. There are different views form different Christians, but the Christian message really doesn't address the issue.
Some interpret a text from the Old Testament law that seems to condemn it, but that text is referring to certain pagan religious practises, not the idea of tattooing in itself.
Now, there is always the common sense position: Tattooing is permanent, and your skin will change in shape, making the nicest tattoo eventually look ugly. However, if you still want a tattoo in spite of that, it is your choice. A God honouring tattoo? As far as I'm concerned you could have Mickey Mouse, or a dragon, or a sword, or a lifebuoy tattooed on to you, and it wouldn't bother me. It wouldn't have to be a religious image just to make it "okay".

In the Old Testament times, a tattoo or piercing was considered paganistic. As the times have changed, I suppose it depends on what you are having tattooed on your body for everyone to see that would make a difference on what I would say.

I think thats pretty cool.
I'd like to get a tattoo myself, but I would be afraid what god would think of it, because when I was younger my grandmother freaked me out. She always told me that if God didn't put it on your body, then it shouldn't be there.
Hence why she never got her ears pierced, but I did do that. lol.
I'd love to get a tat though. Sounds really cool, especially if its to glorify God!

You're kidding yourself if you think that painting or burning your body gorifies God.
These are the things that glorify God:
justice
mercy
generosity
loyalty
compassion
maturity and rationality
Any father is honored when he finds that he has raised a son or daughter to be a great person.
Tattoos don't have stink to do with anything.

Leviticus 19:28:
“You must not make cuts in your flesh for a deceased soul, and you must not put tattoo marking upon yourselves.
Deut. 14:1 could also apply.
This gives an insight into God's viewpoint.

There is scripture in the Old Testament that speaks against the marking of the body. I can not remember the chapter and verse to give you.

Depends who you ask. Old Testament law says don't mark your body. However, modern churches like the idea of "come as your are" tattoos or not. I personally won't get one, but I won't scoff at people who do.
