I am here to apologize to you and every muslim for the ignorance of non-muslims. I have a muslim friend and I absolutely know that most of you condemn terrorist activities. I'm really, really sorry for any ignorance thrown your way. Please don't get mad at us but help educate us. (For instance, in your question where you talk about the verses concerning killing infidels, that was great.) Again, really, really sorry.

I was fortunate enough to work with some Muslims (years ago) which one was studying to be a Holy man. The little bit I did get to understand (he was having a hard time with the English language), the Holy man showed me a Quran written in English, and from what I could gather; the Quran speaks of not harming the non-combatants (including those soldiers who have laid down their weapons. And yes, there is a piece in there that talks about the killing of infidels and yes it is a self defense thing.
Although I am still trying to learn and understand the Muslim faith, not all of us are ignorant...we just don't know. Some of us are doing something about it (reading, talking to those that do know) and others are too brainwashed to get it anyway.
I do not judge you or other Muslims for something you have no control over. I also realize there are good and bad everywhere you go. I wish you the best on your endeavors. Just remember to keep your mind open and not judge all of us infidels the same!
BTW-I am Wiccan. I believe that if what you believe in makes you feel better about yourself and makes you a better person for it and you're not harming someone else in the course of your spirituality..... than go for it !
Peace & Blessed Be!

Islam, is a peace loving religion. And you are absolutly right what you have mentioned in the question above..referring to the quran.People who study the quran or have studied the quran would know that already.Infact any religion would say the same...Self defence is human's first right!..our so called respectives governments could not deny that aswell..which is very natural..but yes when the enemy stops you stop too..and pick the islamic history it will show you all about how the peace treaties took place..it goes back along way..there is no JUSTIFICATION for terrorism!!Peace!

Ameen sister. I'm also Muslim and the Qur'an does say we can't make war unless the people or state of Islam are threatened or if Muslims are being oppressed like in Palestine. I think most people choose to let the media think for them which is sad and they should learn not to listen to the media at all because the media is biased against Islam and Muslims.

You say that you and many muslims speak out against terrorism. There is no surprise that many, perhaps even most, mulsims are against terrorism. Good for you. However, that does not change the fact that islam is far and away the single most prevalent justification for terrorism in the world today. I think that it is pretty clear that almost all terrorists in the world today are extremely devout muslims and read the koran. You say that terrorism is against islam. With this I disagree. Islam was founded on terrorism. Study a little history of Islam. This is no secret. Your story about self defense is the same one that the (Mulsim) Ottoman empire used to justify the expansion of their empire, self-defense. Right. I believe that I am at least as aware of the history of Islam as you, and perhaps much more so. I disagree with your blanket statements about the nature and history of Islam. I do, however, appreciate the fact that you seem a decent enough person not to support acts of terrorism. No one thinks that all followers of islam are terrorists, but they are not rare either.

I think the complaint is more about the perceived lack of public national condemnations. Individual Muslims like you condemn terrorists, but we haven't heard outraged condemnation on the part of governments, that I know of. Of course, any Muslim government that spoke out really strongly against terrorist groups would likely become target number one.

You may condemn it, but do you know not one important Muslim figure has come out openly against ANY terrorist act.
It is ok though. Many Christians do not know that the Bible condemns homosexuals, adultery, coveting, etc... Even the Catholic Church does not seem to know that pedophiles should be removed from the priesthood.

Oh, I agree with you and I'm Catholic. I think where the problem arises is that Muslims are quiet. While the huge majority of Muslims are good, law abiding people, it makes the rest of the world nervous to not hear any kind of vocal condemnation of what other Muslims are doing. I think of it this way, if it were Catholics that were Terrorists, don't you think other Catholics and Priests would be loudly declaring that what they are doing is wrong? Just think about it. And by the way, I don't like how you refer to non-Muslims as ignorant. That doesn't give me a warm fuzzy feeling toward you. Just a thought.

Yes, there are many ignorant people on here.
Regards to the comment of the man who blows up on the bus:
- A community kills hundreds of women because they believe they are witches...why is it so easy to guess their religion?
And regards to the nut who's going to post violent quotes about the Quran:
- The bible has just as many, if not more of them.

There are a few
The problem is that you are such a small minority. I see hundreds of thousands at some Hamas Rallies, and on the other side I see a hand full. It isn't even close and I can't help but notice. Just once it would be nice to see a protest for peace that is anywhere near this: http://www.mentalblog.com/depot/APPhotoKevinFrayer1.jpg
