I am amazed that it was mailed a week ago and she still does not have it. Usually when they mail them on Friday, you have it by Monday or Tuesday-it's really quick! One year before we did direct deposit, the IRS mailed it on Friday and we had it on Saturday! Talk about fast service! So in general it is pretty quick (my son received his on a Monday after it had been mailed on the previous Friday) and I would be concerned if it still has not come and it's been a week since they mailed it.

But, I would give it a few more days just to be sure and then I would have your cousin call the IRS and make sure they have the right mailing address and that they did mail it on that day. One year a friend of mine did not receive hers for several weeks and it was because it was addressed wrong and went to a different state but the same city! It was a mess but the IRS told her that they would have to wait until they got the original check back that they mailed out if it was "undeliverable", and then they would re-issue another one.

Hope that helps and that your cousin gets her check soon.

That must be the check that was mis-delivered to my place. I sent it back to the post office. Actually, that is a lie. But this is NOT a tax question. Its a post office question. Since when can you count on anything from the post office other than rate increases.

They are not in a hurry to send you any money, although the check was issued you may not get it for 2 weeks.
