I have been checking in with this forum (R&S) sporadically for the past 3 days. Each time I get on, I see about 5% of the page covered with miscellaneous questions, 20% with actual sincere questions about Christianity, and 75% of the page littered with people's "questions" that are solely created for the purpose of spreading hate, stirring up anger, and mocking believers of religions (particularly Christianity). This forum is supposed to be for people who have sincere questions about anything religious or spiritual. The vast majority of what I have seen is sophmoric taunting, belitteling, and hurtful "questions" and remarks. I would like to know why you people (you know who you are) do this. And don't say "It's because those damn Christians are so overbearing and critical, blah blah blah", because from what I have seen, it is YOU who are causing almost every bit of conflict on this page. Is it too much to ask for you all to give everyone else a little respect (Christian or not)?

"And don't say "It's because those damn Christians are so overbearing and critical, blah blah blah", because from what I have seen, it is YOU who are causing almost every bit of conflict on this page".

Bull. It's the Christians.
You're just refusing to acknowledge that fact.

There are very few reasonable questions or answers here from Christians. Instead, Christians' contributions range from outright deliberate ignorance (the constant appeals to Pascal's Wager, the creationism nonsense, the "you can't prove there isn't a god" and "atheism is a religion" BS) to trolling (the constant lies about atheists, such as the claim that atheists really believe in gods or that we "reject god" because we want to live in evil) to preaching and similar non-questions. Oh, and let's not forget the whining: the idiotic but all-too-common "how come only Christians are targeted by negative comments?" and "why are there nonbelievers here?" nonsense.

If those "contributions" were removed, a good solid 80%-90% of Christians' comments would be gone. Now, the remaining 10%-20% are to be congratulated: it is quite an accomplishment to behave well under these circumstance, and I do think that we should be more eager to applaud the Christians who do.

Atheists, on the other hand, typically either make good arguments, either as questions challenging Christians or in response to Christians' ignorant or dishonest challenges to atheists. Sometimes atheists do make unwarranted comments, but were you to remove those, a solid 80% of all atheists' comments would remain.

There's a log in your eye, Christians.

No, it's not too much to ask for. Respect is an ideal and it is unfortunate how many people hear 'Respecting of all Life' so often throughout many sacred texts the world over and yet still we are making war with one another! There is no good reason for this!!!

Why do we ( and I am as much to blame for this as anyone) always seem to want to be the only people with the 'truth'? I mean, come on...Allah loves infinite variety!!! Why are we fighting??!! Doesn't it go against whatever the Divine has sketched out for us?

Unfortunately, lately it seems that the word is not being heard. Or it is being interpeted in obscene ways. Lots of relegions suffer this fate and it has alot to do with how much everyone is out for themselves and not all life as we know it!

Yes, I have seen quite alot of Christ-bashers on this website but, I have also seen/found humor in responding intelligently to these so called ruffians and hope I have made them or at least someone else think.

Question Reality...It's change is constant!(remember to blink!)

i think a lot of people are affected by the media's influence on religious questions, and may be put off by Christians who insist "their" way is the only way. Personally, as a teacher, i lost a job in Ohio because a school supervisor felt i was wrong to suggest that not everyone needed to pick a priest when they got married (i said, "but we're Buddhists" in the margin of a paper they submitted) and used what they called "profane language" in the classroom (though they syllabus included a story with the word "*****"), explaining my reason as that, taking college classes, students need to be professional and see past the negative connotations such words have.

I don't think this. In fact, your question is a violation of the community guidelines. You're ranting your opinion and couching it in a question. Don't be surprised if you get reported.
Your perspective is colored by what you choose to see. There are just as many, if not more, abusive christians on this forum than all other belief systems (and atheists) combined. I'm here every day. I don't just come here sporadically..therefore, my observations would have more empirical evidence than yours.

Yeah, I agree to an extent. A lot of the "questions" asked here are just masked insults so they dont get deleted, a lot of the people who are doing it ARE being deleted though and then they complain. You cant hide the insults from other people, why would it fool anyone else outside the normal people who come here? Why are so many people who dont believe in religion in the religion section of yahoo answers? Come up with a good answer to that one and I'll give you a cookie.

I love watching the retorts on these pages, it's like watching a football brawl.

There are two clearly marked groups fighting, untill the police (or admin) steps in, then everyone's against them.

I'm a fence sitter, up here and out of the way.

I agree, and seriously intend to log on for the sole purpose of asking and answering questions.

But sometimes you're bombarded by such ignorance, that it gets frustrating and...well, some of us handle it poorly (including me).

BUT it seems you've either missed or ignored the Christians who are stirring up the same trouble, calling Athiests angry, denying evolution, encouraging hatred of gays, or refusing to answer any questions with intelligence.

I agree, there is hardly any respect on this site, but then again some people are here because they don't have a life.

Listen hun... it's not the believers or non believers, it's everyone.

Deal with it.

If you don't like it, there is this little link up there that looks like an "X". Or you may push Alt+F4 (on Windows & some Linux machines).

Or does someone need to call the WHaaaaaaambulance for you?

that's because as a typical Christan you are blinded by references only to your religion. This is an equal opportunity hate board and ALL the religions are represented...
