Ruebens are my absolute favorite sandwiches. One time, I made a pizza from scratch. I started with rye dough, added a little thousand island dressing, corned beef, sauerkraut and topped with shredded Swiss cheese - it was wonderful! Just like an open faced Rueben.

Yay. Especially on rye and with Russian dressing instead of thousand island. They are bad for you because of all the sodium, but the increase in happiness cancels out the increase in blood pressure

a Rueben Sandwich
should be made with Grilled Rye bread and no salad dressing ,but with some hot mustard

LOVE IT - definitely use rye bread - and grill the sandwich on a sandwich press or flat top griddle!

Use rye bread if you can, and... really I prefer mustard to 1000 island, but I wouldn't complain.

IT is absolutely the best with marble rye, and to avoid overconsumption of corned beef I would recommend smoked turkey mixed in with the corned beef.

I prefer the Turkey Reuben which is made with roasted sliced turkey and coleslaw
