A recent discussion in our Sunday school class concerned defense of your faith. We talked about how you should know what you believe and why you believe it.
If someone asked you what you believed and why, could you answer sufficiently?
[Note that I'm not trying to down anyone else's faith, and that I have firm belief in mine. I'm not looking for confirmation of my own, I'm just curious about what others can say about their faith.]

I will reiterate that I'M NOT INSULTING ANYONE'S FAITH!!!
Just thought I'd get that out there [again].
I consider myself rather accepting of other religions because I don't like it when others insult mine, so I won't insult theirs.
Thanks for all your answers so far - I'm glad that all of you are able to defend your faith.

I am firm in by beliefs, I have a strong Faith in the Lord as I have had personal encounters with the Lord. He spared my life& Healed my body & spoke to me all through a traumatic mortality break car accident I was in. The mortality break was one that I should not have survived from, but Thanks be to God, I was healed.
I have always known in my heart & soul,if the day should come, I will stand & fight for my faith & Lord Jesus. If it cost me everything, I know that I know I would fight. May have to pray for courage, but I will not, can not deny what I know to be true! Because He lives, I live.
I could give you many more examples how the Lord has directed my paths & walked with me,this I know for sure! But, I will save them for another day.
Today in History they crucified my Christ & it is a bitter-sweet moment in time. I am sorry He had to suffer & die for my sins, but this is why He came into the world, knowing what lie ahead of Him, He loved us so much, He came anyway. He came to give us eternal life, for whosever will come. He defeated death, ascended into heaven & sits on the right hand of the Father in Heaven and praise God! He will return!

I suppose I could try... but if someone was attacking my faith the conversation would not really need to continue on my end...
Buddhist here...
Our religion can be too much of a tough concept for the western world... (even though it is very simple to those that find it right for them).
Fortunately, I live in the USA where Buddhism is protected as one of many religions...
In some places, Buddhism is the only religion and they have perverted and destroyed the real value of Buddha's teachings...
We mostly believe in peace and enlightenment... not too many people are offended by that...

I would try to defend my beliefs but I don't know how convincing I would be. At the end of the day my beliefs are my own and others can either accept that or leave me alone to practice as I wish whilst praying for my soul!

I like the answer that one doesn't need to "defend" what they believe, but I gather that you mean they bring forth evidence to prove what they believe? If so then you cannot see "heat" or see "cold" - you see fire, you see ice, but you can't see the "temperature". I found this to be a lovely example of what "faith vs science" can do.
One can see all that is around and know that is enough proof for what you believe in, no matter which Abrahamic faith one follows.
Hope that answers your question.

This misses the element for my area because of the fact with God (and undemanding experience) the activity you have is to stick to to the excellent the actuality you have and to maintain searching for. To be confident isn't comparable to to be an able orator or explicator. A convert is conscious this greater effective than every physique as he can image himself pre-conversion, see the place he replaced into incorrect AND why no longer something would have replaced him on the element. I merely think of you're making it too plenty a head element.

I can explain everything I believe, yet I could not convince them on my own. The Holy Ghost is the only way to truly feel the truth of a message. I am, however, confident that if the person really wanted to know the truth of my beliefs, they would feel the Holy Ghost. If they wish to contend with me, I would dimply state my beliefs, and listen to their point and allow the conversation to die, because I believe that all contention is of the devil and it does not invite the Holy Ghost. They do not have to believe me, because I have personally seen the truthfulness of my beliefs in my own life.

Yes I know everything about my faith but do you have enough knowledge to understand what I am trying to defend.
To challenge others faith you should have enough knowledge about that faith.
My faith*(Hinduism) says Knowledge is God.
Also first of all why should you challenge people of other faith. Respect other faith.

I would be as honest as I could be. Though I have a strong testimony of my religion (I am a Mormon), I admit that I do not know everything, not even the prophet knows "everything"... so like I said, I would answer what i could. I do not like to debate but I would share my testimony.

I have a strong faith and I do not feel like I have to defend it to anyone. It is my faith. Everyone is free to have their own opinions.
