Birth is such an emotional and physical feat, I don't know where to begin....
I am the mother of three children, two by vaginal birth and one by c section. Each birth was different. I didn't have any pain meds for the vaginal births and I had a epidural with the c section.
My births all contained moments of elation, fear, immense pain, humor, sadness, anger, exhaustion (emotional and physical) and a feeling of accomplishment. I think I felt every emotion humans feel during the hours of labor and moments of delivery.
For me, the birth process was messy and scary and exciting. It was a strange combination of being very aware of my physical discomfort and being aware of the more spiritual aspect of bringing a life into being.
I think what made my births "good births" is that all of my babies were born healthy.

i had over 40 hours of false labotu before i went into labour iwhen i go to the hospital i didnt even move a cm. i was 3cm and 85% effaced for almost a month before then and i waited at home till they were 3 min apart. i ended up having an epidural and then i was in control but i had 10 deep tears to be stitched could have donated blood 3 times because i lost so much blood and after a week of being home found out the doctor forgot gauze in my birthing canal. i had an 11 1/2 hour labor and 39 minutes of pushing and i had a healthy baby boy and to this day i would go through all of it again and we are ttc again. all of it was worth his arrival and even then after

Labour was THE most painful thing I have EVER gone through in my life but it was a really good birth. You have to understand that a 'good birth' means no stitches, not cuts, no tears, and everything is over pretty quick with no complications whatsoever. I was only pushing for 17mins which is fantastic for a first baby that weighs 8lb 14oz!

this is an interesting question. to me ALL birth experiences are beautiful. YES there is pain involved, and healing after takes time, but the second you get to kiss your child for the first time, everything else doesn't matter.
with my first child, i ended up with 2 fractured disks, but the constant back pain now is still worth it(he's 13 now).
with my second one, i made the mistake of going on a road trip to see family 3 days after i was stitched from * to *! it was extremely painful, but it is behind me(no pun intended) every time i look at him(hes 6).
giving birth is amazing on its own. any woman that is lucky enough to have an "orgasmic" birth is definitely a lucky woman, as she gets to experience 2 wonderful things at once!

My mom says I was the easiest of all of her five children to give birth to. So yeah, I had a "good" birth.
As for my daughter -- how does 2 1/2 hours of not all that painful labor sound? I was just one of the luckier ones, I guess.
