the ark of the covenant is rumoured to hold the ten commandments and the third tablet fragments that was broken by moses when he came of the mountain. in other words the words or voice of god. it actually does not contain god him self.

The Ark contains the originals of the Ten Commandments and some manna etc. The Ark was made for God to sit upon.
