I've been on Paxil for a few months, 20mg now slowly increasing. Geodon did nothing but make me nauseous so I have been prescribed Abilify (2.5mg). After reading about it, I've seen a lot of negative side effects and a lot of negative stories about being on this drug. I've also seen many sites state you cannot overheat or dehydrate on this drug. I'm constantly playing football so I don't know how that would work out. So what do you guys think? Should I give Abilify a shot or not? (paranoia makes me worry about side effects of it so I leave it in your hands)

I've seen the price as well... wow. If insurance doesn't cover that then this cannot be the medication for me. I've simply been living off of samples from the doctor of Geodon, I just couldn't take the nausea. The samples of 2.5mg were given to me for free, but if it really will cost as much as people say I may have to find a cheaper drug.

Listen to your Dr. he's the one with the knowledge and wisdom here.
Two years ago I started taking Abilify. For me it has been a "miracle drug" compared to everything else I tried. My family is seeing smiling and joy and singing in me, something they had not seen in 15 -20 yrs. The audio hallucinations the other drugs didn't touch are 98% gone. No longer do I believe people are plotting against me, purposing to do me harm. Abilify has given me my life back!
Good luck at getting your insurance company to cover the $400+ per month.

Abilify was the only antipsychotic medication I ever took that worked well without side effects. Sure, everyone is different, but my experience on Abilify was a positive one. I took it to help control mania.
