You won't believe what I tell you. But I'll try this approach:
Before I was a Christian, I had spiritual experiences. I won't go into them to make a long story short. But I knew then that I had a spirit. No 'down to earth' person knew what I was fu'king talking about. I knew that it would be a mistake to listen to them, so I had to ignore what certain people said even though they were people I would normally respect.

So the existence of spiritual things were a fact to me. I was one person who didn't have to wonder anymore.

Later I found the source of where spirits come from, that is God, the Chief Spirit. And I've been a Christian ever since.

The Spiritual experiences didn't stop, though unfortuanately they are not that frequent in the same ways.

I will tell you that I believe in God because I know He is there. And the only reason why I know He is there is because He wanted me to know that he was there.

That's why.

No I am not fearful. But the reality is why not believe? Either way my life on earth is better because of it plus I am way nicer to people than I was before and I will leave a legacy of hope love and compassion for my family. But fear has nothing to do with it.

I Believe because Jesus is The Way, The Truth, and The Life.

Well, of course, fear has something to do with it, but not that it is over whelming. We, as Christians, are described as being "God fearing." And we do fear the wrath of God. But that is not solely why we believe. In fact, only a very small part of it.

No, because in my beliefs, not believing is not dangerous. I don't think Atheists are going to hell. I know many Atheists who are very moral and good people, and that is what matters more than belief. So there is no fear factor involved in believing or not believing for me.

I believe because, well, I just do! I think that the concept of God best explains personal experiences I have.

If you are Christian, once you accept Christ, you believe out of love, not fear. We fear God because that is the beginning of wisdom, but we are no longer afraid of death.

I think that you are probably correct. It's too frightening to think of the nothingness after death. Are we just "snuffed out" or do we continue as energy?

The thought of the afterlife is soothing and allows us to have comfort in the idea of death. I personally hope that there is something after this life.

Good question!

No I don't, but it took many years to get to this point...

I agree with the message your question suggests... that some religious beliefs are riddled with fear... If you don't do this...etc... you will burn in ... you know all about it.

Pity isn't it?
